Setting Up the Mala ProEx RoadCart System

Note: This guide is designed for general reference only

Example of Typical Setup

Ground Coupled ProEx RoadCart GPR System

General Assembly: RoadCart System Components

Shielded Electronics Power Adapter High-Frequency Antenna (2.3 GHz) ProEx Control Unit

Shielded Electronics Power Extension Cable

High-Frequency Extension Cable

12V Battery Power Cable

Low-Frequency Antenna (800 MHz) and Shielded Electronics Trailer Hitch Adapter

High-Frequency Antenna Encoder Adapter

General Assembly: Step 1

Remove RoadCart from case

Mount high-frequency antenna in bracket

Adjustments for protective plate and antenna

Adjust the high-frequency antenna to desired height and position Note: Make sure antenna is set at a horizontal position and slightly higher than the protective plate

Note: If only using the high-frequency antenna, the encoder from the RoadCart can be plugged directly into the antenna using the encoder adapter

Mount low-frequency antenna into bracket Note: Using the straps, make sure the antenna is adjusted to the correct height and is horizontal

Attach encoder on the RoadCart to the back of the shielded electronics

Attach the power extension cable to the shielded electronics

Attach the other end of the extension cable to the power adapter, attach the 12V power cable to adapter and then onto battery using the alligator clips Note: The standard accompanying battery can be attached to the extension cable instead as well

Align and connect the high-frequency antenna to the ProEx Control Unit

Note: Attach the clip to the ProEx to ensure fiber optics cannot be pulled out

Attach the D, R and T connectors into the proper optic. Connect encoder into the ProEx.

Plug 12 V power cable directly into ProEx and then onto battery using the alligator clips (or use the accompanying battery)

Plug in Ethernet cable into ProEx and then into your laptop computer
