Missionary Moments in Milano with Bob and Marla...

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord (Psalm 118:26)

The month of May is largely characterized by three weeks of traveling. These weeks were critical to clarify our Italian supporters and to generate new contacts for 20122013. The three weeks were divided into two separate trips (Summer Tour I/Summer Tour II). Our mindset from the Scriptures during Summer I and II was taken from Isaiah 56:7 (Mk. 11:15-17): My house shall be called a house of prayer. This is a classic reminder that the Christian way must be the way of prayer. If you wonder why we have such a need, it is because fund raising is to us the impossible dream. For those of you, who have never done this, believe that it is difficult (understatement). La mia casa sara chiamata un casa di preghiera is an Italian devotional that we have incorporated into our repertoire of theological resort when the moments of impossibility come a tempting. It must have been also a most acute devotional for Jesus himself [Please find an attachment in this report of Seminar in Prayer]. For purposes of sharing and blessing, I am also attaching a paper we put together on Assumptions. During Summer II, we were especially happy to visit and present in Cape Girardeau, Missouri where we labored during a seven year ministry (2002-2009) with the some of the Lords greatest

servants. Our tour took us into the Ozark Mountains (stayed with the Brocks); the red clay roads of Kentucky; the suburbs of St. Louis; and the corn fields of Illinois. The visit with the Short family of Nashville included a tour of World Broadcasting Network (a work of the churches of Christ). We were so blessed to see so many old friends again and make new acquaintances. One serendipity along the way, which we might share, was a chance encounter (?) at a restaurant with familiar faces. Perhaps, there are unseen phenomena in the universe which most will never realize. Recently, a brother in the Lord asked if I really thought that the Lord was at work in the world today. This was in reference to my quoting of an assumption of Jesus in John 5:17. Again, Isaiah 56:7 comes into play. How angels are dispatched, I wouldnt know. But, there is legitimate Christian rationale for angels in Milan and elsewhere (Hebrews 1:14; 2:16, 18) (See also 13:16-21). In all, we gave eight presentations, to as many churches. These presentations took us through five states: from Nashville to St. Louis and from Ames to Paducah. Our power-point presentations gave a gospel message; integrated photos of our Italian students and contacts; and challenged participation from the brethren. Our fund-raising is not finished. We have several months left before we leave for Milan. We are in need still of one-third of our goal to resume the work in Milan for 2012-2013. We leave you with the attachments, a few photos; and a petition for your continued prayers for our Mission to Italy. Thank you very much for your time and talents. Therefore, my beloved brothers be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain (1 Cor. 15:58). And, as always, friends of the Italian Memorandum, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
