Season Greetings!

By Edwin Jardinel 12/25/07

Hello Friend, It has been a usual practice, to give and receive gifts from friends in this holiday season. I know that you have been expecting a surprise gift from someone. Perhaps, you are expecting a gift from your circle of friends, or maybe from an old friend, or somebody that you do not know. Don't you know that someone is thinking of you today and he wants to give you the greatest gift that you can ever receive? What great gifts could you ever think? An expensive piece of jewelry? A house and lot? A car? You may have all these things, but you will not own them forever. According to the Scriptures, Job said, ...Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.(Job 1:21). Paul said, For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.(1Tim. 6:7). If you have not received yet the greatest gift, and death will overtake you, you will forever be a loser. Jesus said, For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mar 8:36) My friend, you must realize that you have a soul and such cannot be fed nor be satisfied with material things. God's word is the food for our souls. Jesus said, ... It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Mat 4:4). However, you do not feel the hunger for God's word because you are spiritually dead. You might say, I am so active and alive. I am still moving and talking. Yes, you are alive physically but you are dead spiritually. The Bible says, But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth (1Tim. 5:6). All men are sinners and the penalty of sin is death (Rom.3: 23; 6:23). Just as a physically dead person does not eat food, so is the spiritually dead person does not eat spiritual food. You can do nothing to save yourself nor to give yourself life. Life is generated from the source of life. Jesus is the true source of life. The Bible says, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6). He came to give you life eternal and abundant. Jesus said, ... I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10). Eternal salvation is God's greatest gift. Romans 6: 23 says, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. How can it be possible for sinners to receive eternal life? Rom.5: 8 says, But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus is the heavenly Father's greatest gift for without Him, there can be no salvation. He paid the great price for our salvation. Hebrews 9: 22 says, And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Would you like to receive the greatest gift? Repent of your sins and trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. (Luke 13:3). He said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. (John 6:47) Death is certain and may come anytime. Tomorrow might be too late. (Read Heb.9: 27; Prov.27:1). Receive Jesus by faith today (Eph.2:8-9). Truly yours, Concerned Christian
