WORKING CONDITIONS AND SAFETY MEASURES IN GALVANIZING PLANT

WORKING CONDITIONS:The Galvanizing Working area should be kept neat and tidy. Where possible, increased use should be made of hoods, extraction ducts, and exhaust fans to give as good an atmosphere as possible SAFETY MEASURES:All Safety Measures should be properly exhibited. The Workers at the Galvanizing bath should be provided with: (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) . Eye or Face shield . Safety Shoes with steel capped . Leather or leather on woolen base gloves, . Leather aprons, and . Nose Masks . Helmet

The Working at fluxing bath should provided with: (1). Gum boots, (2). Goggles (3). Rubber hand gloves, (4). Nose Masks (5). Leather apron (6). Helmet

The Working at Pickling bath should provided with: Hydrochloric acid used for pickling the job is dangerous and causes very sever burns and sores when it comes in contact with the skin. It should be carefully handled by wearing (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) Rubber gloves Rubber Shoes Face shield Leather apron Nose Mask Helmet.

The Working at Degreasing bath should provided with: While cleaning the articles with sodium hydroxide solution for removing the oil and grease on the job, the operator should be warned that is produces severe flash burns. Special precautions should be taken to protect them from splashes of sodium hydroxide solution. It should be carefully handled by wearing. (1). Rubber gloves (2). Rubber Shoes (3). Face shield (4). Leather apron (5). Nose Mask (6). Helmet Arrangement should be made to protect the galvanizer SUGGESTIONS: 1. The following safety appliances to be issued at all levels of employees according to nature of individual work areas in regular intervals Goggles Leather shirt Leather pant Safety shoe Leather hand gloves Leather apron 2. Minimum stock level of safety items to be maintained. 3. Before allowing new employees to the work areas proper awareness and safety Training is to be given. 4. The quality of the safety gadgets are to be checked before purchasing. 5. Feed back is to be taken from the employees about the quality of safety gadgets. 6. Employees those who are not following the safety procedures shall be penalized. Helmet with face shield.

7. Immunization of antibiotics is to be given at regular intervals for all employees who are exposed to hot metal areas for early cure.
