Joke of the Week

Watch Out For This Police say that the gang usually is comprised of four members, one adult and three younger ones. While the three younger ones, all appearing sweet and innocent, divert their 'mark' (or intended target) with a show of friendliness, the fourth - the eldest -- sneaks in from behind the person's back to expertly rifle through his or her pockets and purses or bags for any valuables being carried. The picture below, caught on CCTV cameras, show the gang in operation.

Do you know someone who could be our next Guest Speaker?

We are still looking for people to be guest speakers at our meetings. If you know someone who might be suitable, please let Tim Brown know via email timandmarian@grapevine.com.au

Invitation to Relay For Life Information Session

The countdown is on to the Queanbeyan Relay For Life and if you are yet to register for this unique and inspirational event, you are encouraged to attend a Relay For Life Information Session to get involved and to hear about Cancer Council NSW in the Queanbeyan community. Members of the local volunteer organising committee will be on hand at the Relay For Life Information Session to answer questions about the event as well as Debra ONeil, Community and Events Administrator from Cancer Councils Southern Regional office in Young. Relay For Life registrations will also be taken on the night. Alternatively, people can register online at www.relayforlife.org.au Debra encourages all in the Queanbeyan community to come to an Information Session to have their interest sparked in the Relay For Life, and learn about how they can help cancer patients and carers in their community. Information sessions for the Relay For Life event are a fantastic way to learn more about this exceptional fundraiser, as well as an opportunity to hear about the current research, prevention and support programs being run by Cancer Council NSW, said Debra. The Queanbeyan Relay For Life will be held on 16 17 February 2013, at the Seiffert Oval in Queanbeyan. Relay For Life is a fun, overnight community event where teams of up to 20 people take turns to walk around a local track raising money and awareness for Cancer Council NSW. Highlights of every Relay include the candlelight HOPE ceremony, where we remember those we have lost to cancer, and the survivors and carers walk. Money raised from Relay For Life is spent on vital cancer research, support for families affected by cancer and prevention programs. For more information on Relay For Life or how to get involved contact the Southern Relay For Life team on 4223 0200 or on sthnrfl@nswcc.org.au.
