Dr Espallardo is now in Davao City due to projects for the European Union One on one mentoring: mentoring@multicare.com.ph Objectives of the workshop (REAP 2) Principles of data management Epi Info doesnt work in Apple Creating a project (data collection form) in Epi Info Example: hypothetical RCT of Pantoprazole+Domperidone (Prazole Plus) vs Domperidone alone Create a CRF: Use the MAKE VIEW function Click FILE menu Click NEW and save your project in My Documents and name it as Prazole Trial, Click Open Name VIEW: Data, Click OK the form has Grids (therefore ready to form CRF) Put cursor at center, then right click. Field Definition dialogue box: Prazole Trial (since this is a label: enlarge the font) Click Label or Title, then OK. Put cursor at the left corner, then right click. Field Definition dialogue box: Treatment Type: Text Right lower quadrant: click LEGAL VALUES, then put the Labels PRAZOLE and Domperidone, click DO NOT SORT Right Click at the Grid. Field Definition dialogue box: Patient Initials Type: Text Right Click at the Grid. Field Definition dialogue box: Age Type: Number (default 2 digits) Right Click at the Grid. Field Definition dialogue box: Sex Type: Text Click at right lower quadrant: Legal Values, Create New Value, Click Do Not Sort, then Click OK. Right Click at the Grid. Field Definition dialogue box: Education Type: Text Click at right lower quadrant: Legal Values, Create New Value, Click Do Not Sort, then Click OK. How to modify: double click your entry/item at the grid then make modifications.

If you are finished, then Click Exit, the dialogue will ask something, answer Yes.

Enter Data: Click File, then Click Open, then choose the name of the CRF Then enter data Analyze Data: Forget statistics first Look at your research objectives Establish what you want to communicate Develop dummy tables (see the Microsoft Document Tables) After Analyzing, put the Data one by one.
