As we move into 2012, I wonder if the last year may have left you a little stunned? The last 2 years have certainly been interesting for most people. Think back to where you were 2 years ago - I wouldnt be surprised to hear if there have been quite a few twists and turns in your life. Astrology helps us keep track of cycles on a collective and individual level and we are all going to experience some groundbreaking changes in different areas of our lives over the next few years. When I write your forecasts, Im looking at an energy pattern that can be felt collectively and honing in on a particular area for each sun sign. I am conscious that some people who read this will have little or no experience or understanding of astrology and some of you may be more advanced. My aim is to make the yearly forecast an enjoyable read for everyone who comes across it. people who have been negatively affected by these current times and who are struggling in one way or another. Perhaps we have family members or friends who are coming to terms with losing a job, or even their home. Perhaps we have experienced this ourselves. If we are fortunate enough to have missed the current financial tension in our own arena, its impossible to escape the daily bombardment of financial forecasting. This affects us all in some way and whilst we may have started to see the green shoots of recovery in some areas of the world, there will be peaks and troughs over the coming years. This is not a comfortable process. It does mean that we will find creative ways to make things work for us. It also gives us the benefit of taking a closer look at our lives and the lives of people around us, and make readjustments to our current perspectives.

2012 brings some fundamental changes. Something new is on the horizon. We caught glimpses of what those changes might mean last year, but this year takes us right to the heart of the matter. 2012 marks the peak of a transition; a cross over into a new, exciting, and at times challenging era. Many of us have already been directly affected by the global recession, and it impacts on us all in different ways. Of course some people are doing well, maybe even better than before - our own individual cycles play a part in how we are currently faring. Regardless of our own circumstances, we may know

Im a great believer in compassion specifically grounded compassion, which is really an acknowledgment of other people around us. Its sad this has been so severely lacking that, when we do experience it, we dont actually recognise it any more. When people do things for us, most people subconsciously reach for a motive. If we cant see or fathom a motive, we are immediately suspicious and perhaps even mildly condemning. Our immediate response is distrust because this is not something we experience very often. We have lived in a WIIFM (Whats in it for me) society for way too long and I believe this has eroded our sense of community. I propose a WIIFU (Whats in it for us) society, starting in 2012 - a more integrative and balanced point of view that ensures we meet not only our own needs, but the needs of the

2012 Bringing Compassion back into Fashion!

people with whom we come into contact day to day. 2012 potentially brings compassion and kindness back into vogue on a humanitarian and global level. Actually, I think this trend has started already check out yearofkindness (you can click on the link) a blog I found particularly inspirational. Written by an Aries with a mission, she recently spoke about her thoughts and experiences whilst promoting kindness. In her post titled Kindness Army (very Aries indeed!) she said;
I cant quite believe that I am now almost six months into my Year of Kindness. Seems like only yesterday I was stumbling through my very first day, offering smiles to strangers and receiving very few in return. I didnt like all the negativity, selfishness and cruelty I saw all around me. After a long time of feeling frustrated and helpless, I decided I would do something about it. I wanted to prove (to myself as much as anyone else) that despite all the inevitable bad stuff in life, even the smallest acts of good can be powerful in the most unexpected ways and every single person has the power to make the world a kinder place.

A Pivotal Point

2012 has stood out for most astrologers as being a pivotal year due to Pluto and Uranus coming together. These 2 major planets form a number of exact tense aspects over the next few years and 2012 begins this process. Tension is not necessarily bad, but we are all being driven towards change in some way. I have written about how these 2 planets directly affect you in your report.

How to use this guide

You can, of course, read your guide from beginning to the end if you wish. I have written your yearly report in sections and there are different ways you can utilize this report throughout the year. Part 1 looks at the major trends for your sun sign incorporating the dominant themes from the beginning of 2012 throughout the year. You will also find links to various articles (they look like this Link) describing some of the planets I mention in your report - read them as you go through, or come back to them later. They will give you a better idea about what I have based your report on, and give you a deeper insight into the planets. The summary section (Part 2) breaks down your themes for the year into 3 main areas - love and relationships, money and finance and career and status - You can get a better idea about what to expect in each of these particular areas of your life by reading this section. Part 3 covers the effects of the main planetary movements as they move from one sign to another (technically termed ingresses) and eclipses on your sign in 2012. I have focussed on Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter who all move into different signs this year. The eclipse section highlights the potential affects of the eclipse for your sun sign. (You can also refer to the calendars in part 4 to get a clearer idea about the timing of these events throughout the year.)

Part 4 contains the moon calendar highlighting 4 phases of the moon each month with corresponding dates, signs and degrees. Each phase is significant depending on what sign it is in and I take this into account when I write your monthly astrology report and overview on AstroArtisan. You will also find the eclipses highlighted on the moon calendar. The direct, station and retrograde calendar shows times when Mercury, Venus and Mars are moving backwards and forwards and the point they stop (station) in between. (There is an explanation of the different phases of these movements in this section) Again, these will all have bearing on us in some way and I have focussed on these particular planets (the personal planets) - as their motion is likely to have a big impact. The final page in your report is your 2012 Life and Living Inspiration Card. This was written for your sign and encompasses the energy and themes for you in 2012. This year may be life changing for you. Cancer, you can be a very private person and value the time you spend alone -thinking, planning and resting. Last year, you may have noticed that there were periods of respite contrasted with periods where you were required to stand up and be seen which may have come without warning. You may be well known for your nurturing qualities and you are usually the person people go to if they want a little support. What people dont often know about Cancer is that they have a back bone made of steel. This may be the reason people lean on you so much- instinctively, they know that you will not break from the weight.

Savvy, in tune with peoples emotions and feelings and easily hurt, you can build a protective fortress around you and the people you care about. Your changing moods are legendary and you can go from being the life and soul of the party to mute and despondent in nano seconds, but once people get to know you, they accept your ever changing moods simply because what you offer people in terms of support far outweighs a few sulky and sullen moments. It certainly has been an interesting few years for you. There may have been developments, setbacks, victories, disappointments and realisations all occurring at the same time in different areas of your life. What stands out for Cancerians in 2012 are the significant changes about to occur to your image. If you have found its all been a little sporadic and quite odd in recent years Life in this area is about to get more interesting for you. Uranus is giving your career and presentation a jolt.

Loyal to family and friends, and often happy to be a confidante, you enjoy looking after the people around you and derive a great deal of comfort and security from your nearest and dearest, but people shouldnt make the mistake that you are a softie. UranUs Uranus is one of what we call the outer planets. These planets pack a hefty punch wherever they are in our chart - they are the transformers, up heavers, movers and shakers on a grand scale. I like to call them the planets that can move a mountain as they have the potential of bringing big change and energy shifts when they impact our charts. Out of all the outer planets, Uranus is the most unpredictable, quirky, strange and electric. Whenever I think about Uranus, I think about the shape and mechanism of this planet and how it operates in our solar system. Uranus is the only planet in the solar system we know about that tilts on a weird axis. Uranus topsy-turvy orbit really describes how this planet works in astrology. So think about a weird and wonderful, upside down and unexpected energy affecting your life and well, anything is possible and anything can happen. Uranus is travelling through the area associated with your work and how you present yourself. Even though this may have felt unstable and unpredictable, there were some nice surprises with this influence. Perhaps an opportunity came out of the blue, or you presented a piece of work that went through the stratosphere. Uranus has a bouncy effect and can ping us from one end of the spectrum to the other, but it keeps us on our toes and has an anything can happen energy which can be quite exciting. This was also connected to your relationships and the way you relate to people. There were, perhaps certain points last year which left you feeling flummoxed as significant people you thought you could rely on perhaps let you down, and people you thought were unreliable turned out to be a rock for you.

Chaotic order

At the same time, if this has left you wishing for a more peaceful and less turbulent existence- its coming, however the themes revolving around your public image, career, social standing and relationships will take precedence in your life for a while and you may find yourself changing direction, or perhaps even changing career over the coming years. This may do nothing for your sense of stability, but it will give you an opportunity to see things very differently, and the potential to broaden your horizons considerably. This is quite an exciting and exhilarating experience and you will find that the partnerships you form over the coming years are connected, in part to your career, status and reputation. Uranus is adding the sparks and chaos to your status, and Pluto is digging through the dynamics in the relationships you form.

PlUto the DemoteD Planet - still making a Big imPaCt Pluto is the slowest moving planet and takes 248 years to complete a circle around the zodiac. You may have heard that Pluto recently got demoted and lost its planetary status, but this makes no difference to the overhauling and transformative effect this planet has when we look at astrology cycles. Pluto transforms and it transforms because it digs. Whatever area of your life Pluto affects is in for an overhaul period. Unlike Uranus, which tends to work in a sporadic, chaotic, lightening flash way, Pluto takes its time, is thorough and leaves no stone unturned. This planet uproots, unearths and through this process shifts our foundations from the core. This is the transforming effect of Pluto.

Power Giving, Sharing and Owning

Pluto is having a big effect on your relationships and you may have found this to be an interesting experience! Plutos influence in itself (without adding Uranus to the mix) can bring about momentous changes, and its possible that the concepts of power and your own personal individuality and autonomy will come into play. Relationships entered into at this time can be all encompassing, passionate and change your view on life- There is a dramatic flair associated with Pluto that can leave you breathless and a little light headed. If all this sounds too heavy, or you are in a relationship that is ticking along quite nicely, Plutos influence can show up in any partnerships you form, so this could also pertain to business and one to one friendships.

Pluto impacting on your relationships in tense aspect to Uranus shows where there may be challenges regarding your relationships with the people you work with. (specifically on a one to one level) This tension is about finding an integrative approach between what you do for a living, the face you put on for the world and the relationships you form. This tension will ebb in and out of focus over the coming years and you are being given the opportunity to make some radical changes in these 2 areas of your life. You will find however, that your friendships have been (and will continue to be) a rock giving you some much needed support throughout this time, and you are likely to draw on your ever expanding circle to support you through the changes you are going through for the first half of the year. Jupiter is influencing your friendships and groups and helping to give you some much needed assistance and guidance into the first 6 months of 2012.

JUPiter Jupiters expansion can bring rewards and inflates whatever it touches. Jupiter is seen as the luck planet by some as it tends to harness positivity and bring happy fortuitous circumstances into our lives. Jupiter inflates whatever it touches think largesse and growth and we have a good idea about the potentials of this planet. It has been said that Jupiter in a certain area of our charts can even literally expand our waistlines!! Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and has an immense gravity field that deflects comets from hitting the earth giving us a certain amount of protection. There is also an element of protection associated with Jupiter in astrology.

You perhaps noted last year that the people you spend time with, -your friends and any associations you belong to have become a source of comfort to you through all the changes you have been through. You will find that these people are where you find a little joy and respite from the mad world. This is about an expansion of your social circle and the people you find here will be helpful throughout the year in advising you about you- The friendships you make at this time are likely to be important- (whether they are new or old friends) and the people in your life and associations you make could impact you greatly, so while there may be tension in your personal relationships and associations, you have a little added support. Its a mixed bag this year and you will find that you observe parts of yourself through the close relationships that you form. If this process is not comfortable for you, it may be a good time to take a look at who you are, in the context of the choices you make in your partnerships. On the other hand there is the potential to form deep and long lasting bonds which could change your life.

Your ever expanding Circle

The Bigger Picture

Your visions and dreams were broadening last year and by this, I mean your ability to see and comprehend the bigger picture and understand life from a different perspective. As soon as you appeared to be on an even footing and perhaps feeling like you understood a little more about life, the feeling of knowing, understanding and accepting seemed to escape you again by the end of 2011. 2012 brings this knowledge back and this time around you are able to see a little more. This is a really great energy for you to work with and is likely to broaden your horizons considerably. Neptune brings an all encompassing influence to your understanding and perspectives about the world.

nePtUne This planet in astrology is associated with higher visions, dreams, fantasy, illusion and all things mystical and unseen. Neptune settles into Pisces this year for 14 years and this is where Neptune operates best as this planet rules the sign of Pisces. Neptune is diffuse and difficult to grasp, but if you are naturally inclined towards non-linear perspectives, then Neptune in Pisces is likely to be an energy that will be a joy to work with. In some ways, this planet acted a little out of character when it was in the sign of Aquarius as the 2 have quite different agendas and ways of operating. With Neptune back in its honourable and rightful place from February 2012, we could see themes regarding compassion, idealism, romance, understanding, equality and tolerance becoming prevalent in our lives. In 2012, you will find that things begin to fall into place (at last!) and you are able to plan ahead effectively. You can now start to build on the dreams you have. There are opportunities to reach people abroad and the likelihood you will find yourself travelling - or at the very least thinking about making a journey. This influence revolves around making connections with people who you dont see on a day to day basis, which in turn allows you to gain a bigger and broader perspective of your life in context with the world beyond your usual understandings and boundaries. You may become interested or connected with other cultures, and start to realise that the world is a big place. This will give you the ability to see how big your own visions can be, enabling you to see possibilities and potentials you thought were out of your reach. Whilst you are striving to integrate and understand your relationships and your career, you will also be spreading your net a little further and perhaps even coming to realisations about how everything is connected. After spending some time hiding away, you may decide that 2012 is the year you decide to step out.

Broader Vistas

The last few years have been an eye opener for you, and perhaps you have had to deal with unsettling changes and new developments. This may have felt a little uncomfortable as you do tend to enjoy some stability and security. The great news is that you are coming to the end of a rocky road and whilst I cant say there will no more surprises along the way, you will certainly feel a lot less restriction and a lot less frustration; this is especially true towards the end of the year. If you found that there was a part of you that wanted to retreat, you have had the opportunity to reflect and think about where you want to be a few years from now. This continues until the end of 2012 at which point you will be working steadily towards a goal and feeling more confident in coming out of your shell. You may be in the process of developing something behind the scenes, or perhaps you just feel a need to retreat from the madness for a while to deal with all the changes that have occurred for you in the last 2 years. If you have been developing something, its possible that an opportunity could arise for you to finally air whatever it is you have been building on; if you feel it is not the right time, you will be putting the finishing touches to it, ensuring that everything is perfect and just right.

The Paradox

Over the last year there has been an ongoing paradox occurring in your life. All those changes I described earlier on in your report were about your current and perhaps surprising position in the spotlight which had a tendency to flick on and off sporadically catching you unaware. At the same time, you may have just wanted to hide away from it all, order your thoughts and stabilise your base. The need to retreat and structure was a Saturn influence.

satUrn Father time Saturn is the planet associated with restrictions, lessons and time. It also lends structure and discipline to the area of our chart it impacts. This planet is a bit like Father Time and can bring a feeling of delays and hold ups. Whichever area Saturn is impacting gives us the effect that everything has slowed down. The positive side of Saturn is that it stabilises, as well as teaches us patience through what can seem like a long and arduous climb. Although the impact of this planet feels frustrating, in the long run we may find that we take a more structured approach to the area it impacts. Saturn is also associated with the wisdom and patience of maturity.

Saturn influencing your roots, home life, and family shows a time when you are driven to deal with matters closer to home. You probably felt an urge to stay near familiar territory in order for you to balance any issues you were experiencing. Cancer, you tend to thrive when your home life is balanced and this gives you a stable footing when you go out into the world. At the same time, you may have experienced an urge to be seen (or you were thrown into the spotlight in one way or another) whilst also wanting to retreat away from prying eyes, thus you were being pulled in two directions at the same time. This year (by the end of the year) any restrictions you may have felt and frustrations as you bounced from one extreme to the other; will end. You will be feeling more confident and willing to explore outside of your usual territoryJourneys are very possible towards the end of the year and you will have the keen sense that its now safe to come out and experience the world a little more whether this be in the literal sense, or simply understanding the way other people function. Your explorations have the potential to bring you to a new level of understanding. There is a huge world out there waiting for you. 2012 is a great year for you to go on a journey towards developing a bigger perspective.

You are in a phase where you are beginning to understand the necessity of compromising in your relationships and or expecting compromise from the people you relate to. The changes you will experience over the coming years will show you the essence of power in relationships and this has the ability to change the way you view yourself in a partnership. If you have felt that the power swings one way -whichever way that may be- It may be time to look at how you interact in your one to one partnerships and this is linked to the changes in your image and presentation. Though there may have been confusion in the last few years, any dilemmas you experienced will fade into the background. If you are in a relationship, and have found it difficult to understand what was happening, you will perhaps gain some clarity in knowing how to deal with any issues. This area of your life perhaps tested and pushed you to your limits. The issues are potentially about relinquishing control whilst maintaining a certain level of autonomy. Perhaps not the easiest balance for you to find, but as you face each challenge, you will discover new ways you can reach an equilibrium. Relationships for single Cancerians could be very dramatic love at first sight scenarios that knock you off your feet - but just be aware that with the intense rush of feelings, there is also the potential for the negative side of such relationships to show; jealousy, possessiveness and fixation are the dark side of this influence, so it may be a good idea to watch your own actions and that of a partner or potential partner. You will see so much more about yourself through the partnerships you form and your one to one relationships are likely to take you on an interesting journey.

Money and Finances

You probably found ingenious ways to ensure that you were able to keep a roof over your head and pay the bills, whilst at the same time not necessarily having any sort of stability as far as your financial affairs were concerned. You should find that in 2012, you are back on an even keel. If money has been a main priority for you and you have found yourself in the position of monitoring what comes in and goes out, this sporadic influence will even itself out and youll have an opportunity to relax this year. Your main focus in 2012 is on your career and public life off course finances may be linked to this, actually they probably are, but as life changes, and you work with the excitement and potential sudden movements and changes, this is likely to have an impact on your finances. Put away as much as you can when you can. This ensures that if you hit some turbulent waves, you have a raft to keep you afloat giving you more options in terms of enabling you to move into new situations fairly quickly should you need to.

Career, Public Image and Status

It really is a case of expect the unexpected here. You may experience sudden changes in status one day with the appearance that everything has gone down the drain, and the next day - recognition for all the hard work you have put in. It is here that you will be kept on your toes and the great thing about this is that boredom will not settle in. You will perhaps be kept on the move (literally or figuratively), working with different people and different situations. There could also be some travel involved and you may find yourself meeting new people from different corners of the world and understanding different work patterns, ideas and perspectives. There is also the strong possibility that you will be using new technology and developing something innovative over the coming years. The challenges that arise pertain to your ability to integrate this with the relationships (business or otherwise) that you are building during this process.

oUter Planets Changing signs anD eCliPses 2012 Neptune moves into Pisces 3 Feb 2012 Saturn moves into Scorpio 5 Oct 2012 Jupiter moves into Gemini 11 June 2012 Planets changing signs mark important points in their cycles and change the flow of energy, moving us in a different direction. The personal planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars, and the moon and sun move fairly quickly in comparison with the outer planets, so the quicker moving planets show the ebb and flow of our daily lives whilst they make different aspects in the chart. The outer planets changing signs are indicative of significant shifts and trends that can last many years. Last year, Neptune went into Pisces for the first time in 164 years and went back into Aquarius at the end of 2011. From February, Neptune will stay in Pisces for 14 years. Jupiter went into Taurus mid 2011 (where it will remain until June 2012) and will move into Gemini, and Uranus continued its stay in Aries and will be there for the next 7 years. Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and will stay there for 13 years. Saturn has been in Libra since October 2009 and will move into Scorpio in October 2012. All these changes are significant and affect us all individually.

neptune has impacted on your finances in some very strange and unpredictable ways in the last 14 years. It has also highlighted themes around commitment and this has also been a little turbulent and slightly unpredictable. As you tried to define what you wanted to commit to and how you were going to commit, you were probably quite confused. This has now passed and you are in a position where you will be broadening your horizons this could be in the form of travelling, or you may find that your word is decimated among the many in some way Its possible you will embark on a new course of study that is likely to have far reaching effects. This is a lovely influence for you and after recent years, when everything perhaps felt like a battle this change brings a little hope and greater understanding to what you have experienced. Saturn has possibly kept you close to home in the last few years and I wrote earlier on in your report that this has been a dichotomy in terms of all the strange encounters you have experienced in the outside world. You are perhaps using this time to get your home or base in order, and may have felt like you needed to retreat and refine yourself at some level before you decided to come back out. This has been difficult as you tried to combine different areas of you life which all seemed to clash at various points in the last few years. Youre nearing the end of this influence and in October 2012, Saturn will be giving you an edge and discipline to your creativity. When we combine this with the exciting ideas and visions that you will experience, you may find that you reach a point at the end of 2012 where you are able to piece everything together. Jupiter has helped provide you with a more optimistic outlook and expanded on your group of friends and comrades from mid last year. By mid 2012, Jupiter will be acting as the angel in your ear telling you to stay optimistic and giving you some protection in the background of your life. You will be driven by a strong belief for the rest of the year and this will carry you through any challenges you encounter. You may find there are so many different thoughts and ideas going through your mind that will be shaped by the discipline you encounter in defining your individuality.

Mars retrogrades every 2.5 years and can bring about a time we are being pulled back a little in our efforts. Mars is active and associated with warrior type energies. It is what drives and fuels us to take action, so when it is retrograde we may be a little reticent in going forward. Mars usually spends just over a month in each sign, however Mars will spend 8 months travelling through Virgo. Rather than going full speed ahead, this Mars retrograde may pull you back. Outwards energies become inverted. Mars retrograde will affect your communications. When Mars is direct in this area, you feel the urgency to talk, write, travel around your locality and basically flit from place to place. Whilst you will still have this urge, it may feel a little bit more frustrating it could be that your usual manner of communications goes awry, or your timing is slightly off, so whilst you still have all this energy, it may be useful to find other ways to channel it, for example, you may want to keep a journal during this phase, or just make sure that if you are doing a lot of communicating that you know what you want to say and how you want to say it.

Mars retrograde

Venus retrograde

Venus will also retrograde this year in Gemini. Venus retrogrades mark a time when we rethink our relations. Venus is also associated with beauty, cosmetics, fine tailoring and anything aesthetic and pleasing to the eye. During the retrograde phase, its advisable not to go for any cosmetic treatments, get a new hair cut or buy anything that you think may suit you. There is the potential to look at it after the retrograde and not like what you see. If you do find yourself going over old ground, especially in relation to your love life, this is a good time to do so. We can use a Venus retrograde to reflect on what we find beautiful and how we conduct the relationships in our lives. This retrograde phase has the potential to take you back to a past memory of loves and passions gone by. You may not be able to place what is going on in the back of your mind, but faces from the past could come back. You may spend some time thinking about these relationships and what they meant to you. Once Venus moves forward and enters your sign, it should become clearer how past and present relationships will feature in your life.

Mercury retrograde

I always make note of Mercury retrogrades. Its usual to find that communications go a little haywire during these times. Eclipses mark turning points in our lives, they also show beginnings, endings and potential changes in direction. The eclipses in Gemini and Sagittarius bring everyones focus to communications, from local to global level. The eclipses in May, June and late November are highlighting your pace, routines and structure. If you find that your routines are disrupted or change at this time, this may not be bad thing and could shake you out of a rut. The eclipse on the 13 November in Scorpio could bring another change to your creative urges. You may find yourself getting serious in a partnership, a creative project you are working on may bear fruit, or children may suddenly arrive in your life. All planets station, direct and retrograde throughout the year. The personal planets Mercury, Venus and Mars have been illustrated in the calendars on the next pages. Pre-retrograde (shadow period) The pre retrograde phase (or shadow) marks a time when we begin to slow down. We may feel the tug of the planets energy as it prepares to go retrograde. This period allows us to gradually ease into the retrograde phase. Station Retrograde We can think of the station as a tipping point this is where the planet stops before it goes retrograde. If we think about standing on a ledge as we are about to tip over, the moment before we fall is perhaps the most tense and this is the feeling we may have at the stationary point. Retrograde The planet is now moving backwards (or we have the illusion of this motion from our positioning on earth) and this is usually a time where we go back to something or work in a different way with the planets energy. Station Direct The planet stops again in preparation to move forward after this point the planet is in direct motion. Post retrograde This period (also called a shadow) eases us out of the retrograde phase as we slowly gather momentum The energy may still be a little diffuse until we move past this phase. Perhaps look at the calendars, note the planets motions and see if you can feel the effects as we go through each phase.
