INDICATION

PREPARATION/ADMINISTRATION

Lagundi: Vitex negundo L


For superficial fungal infections (body ringworm - Tinea corporis, athlete's foot - Tinea pedis, Tinea versicolor) and scabies

For cough and colds: Divide the decoction into 3 parts. Drink 1 part of the decoction 3x/day For fever: Drink one part of the decoction every 4 hours. Note: The lagundi plant bearing 1 to 3 leaves should be avoided. Pound sufficient amounts of fresh leaves.

Apply the juice on the affected area 1-2 x/day. Notes: For those allergic to fresh akapulko leaves, use the decoction instead: Using a clay pot (or any other non-aluminum cookware), boil the chopped leaves in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes reduce to about 1 cup. Wash the affected areas with the cooled decoction 1-2 x/day

Akapulko:

Consume 1/3 cup 3x/day 30 minutes before meals. The young leaves may also be steamed and then eaten (1/2 cup 2x/day).

To lower blood cholesterol levels

Saute with or without oil Soak in vinegar for about 30 minutes or in boiled water for about 5 minutes.

Consume 2 cloves 3x/day after meals. Note: Make sure to take garlic after meals so as not to cause stomach upset

Garlic: Allium sativum


For cleaning wounds, for treating mouth sores, gum swelling and dentalcaries. Wash the leaves thoroughly and chop them. Using a clay pot (or any nonaluminum cookware), boil 2 cups of leaves in 4 cups of water for about 15 minutes using low heat. Do not cover the pot. Let cool and strain. For wounds: Wash the wound with the cooled decoction 2x/day. As oral antiseptic: Gargle the decoction while it is still lukewarm.

Guava: Psidium guajava L.


Ascarisinfection Use only ripe, dry and, freshly opened fruit (seed). Consume the seeds 2 hours after supper. If the desired effect is not yet seen, repeat administration after 1 week of using the same dose. Note: Adverse effects of niyug-niyogan include hiccups, abdominal pain, and diarrhea

Niyug-niyogan:

Quisqualis indica L. abdominal pain

Wash leaves thoroughly and chop them. Prepare 2 cups of water and leaves (see below for # of leaves needed per age group). Using a clay pot (or any other non-aluminum cookware), boil in low heat for 15 minutes. Do not cover the pot. Let cool and strain.

Sambong:

Pepperomia pellucida

Wash the leaves thoroughly. Prepare 1 1/2 cups of fresh leaves. Divide into 3 parts and consume 1 part 3x/day. As decoction: Wash the leaves thoroughly. Prepare 1 1/2 cups of fresh leaves and 2 cups of water. Using a clay pot (or any other non-aluminum cookware), boil in low heat for 15 minutes. Do not cover the pot. Let cool and strain. Divide the decoction into 3 parts and consume 1 part 3x/day (morning, noon, night) after meals.

For bodyaches and pains

Wash the leaves thoroughly and chop them. Measure 2 cups of water and leaves.(see below for appropriate # of leaves per age group) Using a clay pot (or any other non-aluminum cookware), boil the leaves in low heat 15 minutes. Do not cover the pot. Let cool and strain.

Yerba Buena:

Mentha x cordifolia Opiz ex fresen

Divide the decoction into 3 parts. Consume 1 part 3x/ day (morning, noon, night). Fresh leaves may also be minced and applied on the painful area in the body.
