OBJECTIVE:
Search for excellence has been a Continuous process in enhancing my Skills, talent and
knowledge, to mutually benefit both the organization and myself.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
2. I.P.E {10+2} from V.J Junior College of Science and Arts, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. 2002-
2004 with 82.7%.
3. S.S.C from Sri Sarswathi Vidyalaya, mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh. 2001-2002 with 71%.
PROJECT PROFILE:
In the present work, the input parameters for TIG and MIG welding process are varied to analyze
the behavior of weld joints. Work pieces of mild steel of test dimensions were welded by varying
parameters like current and voltage. The weld pieces are tested for properties like tensile strength,
fatigue strength, hardness and impact resistance at the weld joints and the results are depicted in
the form of graphs between input parameters {voltage & current} and out put parameters {tensile
strength & hardness}.
TIG WELDING:
In the Tig welding, an essentially non-consumable tungsten electrode is used to provide an electric
electrode arc for welding. A sheet of inert gas surrounds the electrode, the arc, and the area to be
welded. This gas shielding process prevents any oxidation of the weld and allows for the
production of heat, clean welds.
MIG WELDING: It is an arc welding process which produces the coalescence of metals by
heating them with an arc between a continuously fed filler metal electrode and the work, shielding
is used to protect the weld pool.
Destructive Test: Here we test the work piece on tensile testing machines and Rockwell hardness
machine.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT: By conducting similar tests on their materials, better comparison
on weld strengths can be arrived. They also highlight the use of these welds in specific purposes.
There is always a possibility to arrive at a good option on weld by performing tests on multi-
regression analysis.
CONCLUSION: It was observed that in both welds, with the decrease in voltage and keeping
current constant, the bar chart showed an increase in the tensile strength. It was also observed that
in both welds with increase in current keeping the voltage constant the bar chart showed a
decreased in hardness. Also there are no blowholes in TIG weld and a few blowholes in MIG
welds.
