Power of Guru part 2 Perhaps God has not manifested in us. He is hidden within all of us.

But in some, He has manifested. Guru Granth Sahib says, Whatever Nanak, Gods servant, speaks will be true both here and there. When a person believes in God and God has manifested within a persons heart, whatever he says will be true both here below and also Up There in Gods Court. He speaks after becoming Gods servant. How can a person with his ordinary power keep reciting path while being cut into pieces (as Bhai Mani Singh did)? The Gurus power has come into him. How is it possible that a persons head is cut off and still he is actively fighting (as Baba Deep Singh did)? Otherwise a person would have died then. The Gurus grace had come. Guru Gobind Singhs two small sons were being bricked up alive. The Guru became sad. He explained, It is not because I am frightened. I am sad because I came into this world before them; they are younger than me. I am feeling sorrowful because they have left before me. If they came after me, they should have left after me. What is this? Enlightenment had come. He was above birth and death. An ordinary person would not speak like this. An ordinary person would think, In five minutes theyll be coming after me. Therefore, a Guru gives his power, and that is why the great power comes inside a person. As the Third Guru said, One should pay so much attention that each pore is thinking of the Guru. You become so humble in your heart that there is no hatred and enmity left.

He said, what is a Gurmukh (Guru-oriented person)? What does he know? Even while sleeping, his very pores are reciting Nam. He has no enemy. He always wants everyone to benefit, to be blessed. Prosperity A person who has been blessed by the Gurus gaze becomes Khalsa, becomes a Singh, a rishi, a muni. Whats in a person otherwise? Nothing at all. There was Mahan Singh. When there was a slight difficulty, he gave Guru Gobind Singh in writing a refusal to serve. It is the Guru who is great. Mahan Singh wrote a refusal. The Guru kept it in his pocket, knowing that his disciple was wavering. He said, Its my responsibility to make him strong. In general, the disciple keeps on wavering and it is the Guru who makes him strong. Similarly, there was another tough test. Bhai Gurdas was standing in front of the Fifth Guru. The Fifth Guru asked him with a smile on his face, If the Guru creates a drama, what should the disciple do? He said, The Sikh shall not lose his patience. The Guru realised that Bhai Gurdas had given the wrong answer. If the Guru creates a drama, the disciple is nothing. The disciple is dust. The disciple is just like an oil lamp. The Guru can blow out the flame in a second. Bhai Gurdass answer was wrong. The Fifth Guru sent Bhai Gurdas to Kabul, with a bag of coins to buy horses. The coins turned into bits of broken clay pots instead of money as the Guru played his game. Embarrassed, Bhai Gurdas tore out of the tent and ran off to Banaras. He became famous in Banaras because he was good in giving spiritual discourses. The Gurus disciples were looking for him. The Guru told them to catch him and bring him back. Bhai Gurdas came very lovingly, peacefully. Then the Guru laughed and asked him again, If the Guru creates a drama, what should the disciple do?

Bhai Gurdas said, If the Guru creates a drama, Sikh kaun vichara? If the mother does not take care of the child, who will do so? If the Guru blows out the lamp, what can the disciple do? Hes only dust. The Guru praised him and said, From today on, keep this in mind: The disciple is nothing. He can be caught by anything. The Guru has to protect you 24 hours a day. As the Guru said, If You are absent, then we get attracted to everything, whereas when You reside inside us, then we work for Your mission. He says, When Youre not there, everything comes and bites me. My mind is always wavering. When I keep You in my heart, then nothing else remains. Guru Nanak said, Great is the Guru as the second word in Sikh scripture. Guru Arjun Dev Ji and Guru Ram Das Ji also said, How great is the Guru! Again and again they said, Our Guru is great! The scripture also ends with Guru Nanak Dev Ji, out of all the Gurus. It is impossible to praise the Guru enough. The whole of the huge Guru Granth Sahib has been written in the praise of the Guru. The matter finishes on Ik Onkar Sat Nam Siri Waheguru. God is One, and He is Truth. Then he says, Let me praise the Guru as well. Guru Nanak started by saying, God is one, God is Truth, The Doer of everything, He is without fear and without enmity, Timeless Form, Eternal, Self-illumined. He is realized by the grace of the Guru. Then he said, Recite: He was the Truth in the beginning, He is the Truth in all the ages, the Truth now also, and, Nanak, shall always be the Truth in the future as well. But it all finishes in Ik Onkar Sat Nam. The rest is all praises of the Guru. From this, the whole of Guru Granth Sahib was made. What is the Holy Quran? Mohammad is the Messenger of Allah. What is the Messenger? What is Allah? Allah is speaking through the Messenger. From this, such a large Holy Quran has been written. There is Om, Brahma. In an effort to explain Brahma, the Four Vedas and 18 Puranas , so many big scriptures were written. It all starts from that One. They all tried to describe that One. Along with that, they praised the Guru.

In Sikh scripture the Guru wrote, Consider Guru and God as one. Then he said to himself, Actually, I have a doubt whether I should say that Guru is like God. There is nobody like the Guru. He further said, The difference is in my feeling. The Guru is so great, and God is within the Guru. He said, When God manifested in the person, only then he became Guru. How could I say that Guru is different from God? Thus from a few words, such large scriptures have been written. But it all comes to One. The Vedas are based on this, the Holy Quran is based on this, the simritis are based on this. Krishna spoke of one thing: Brahma. From Him came the 18 Avtars. Lord Rama also spoke about One God, and from this such a big Ramayana got written. In summary, recite God and remember that One Godthe whole universe is with you then. The rest is all praise of the Guru. The whole Guru Granth Sahib emphasizes reciting Gods Name (Nam) and says that Nam will lead you to enlightenment. [note: Cut out end, referring to Dussehra. That belongs with the beinning of part 3]
