(Only RAC 60/6X support DPP connections). z Only enabled ports/channels are shown connected. z Transparent mode is the default bridging mode. Other modes for port- channel association are available using the VLAN screen. 4 Configuration panel for ports P1 to P5, and channels C1 to C6. z P1,P2, P3 are electrical 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 ports. z P4, P5, are SFP ports. SFP transceivers are available for optical LC 1300nm single mode, 1000Base-LX, or electrical RJ-45 1000Base-T. z For protected DAC GE3 operation, a protection cable is installed between ports P5. z C1 to C6 are transport channel (TC) ports for backplane connection to RACs and/or DACs. z Ports and channels can be re-named. 5 Within the 'All' row a tool is provided under Usage, Speed-Duplex, and Chan- nel Mode to make all ports and channels the same (where relevant) using one of the options provided in the drop-down menu. 6 Usage. Example shows P1 selected as DPP, and P2 as Normal. Setting port usage enables the ports, and results in the P1 to P2 connection shown in the port/channel inter-connection graphic (item 3). z When DPP is selected a Group Id tab is prompted. The number set must be the same as the Group Id number in the companion RAC 60/6X. z If ports are enabled but not carrying valid traffic an Ethernet down warning alarm will be raised. See Item 10. 26O-668O66-OO1 2O/12/2O1O /O3 \0LUMF \, CHlPTFR 7, N0DF lND TFRMNlL PLU0-NS Item Description DAC GE3 Basic Screen 7 The Usage options are Normal, DPP, or Disabled. z Unused ports (P1 - P5) must always be Disabled. z A channel port will only show as enabled (Normal) if a valid circuit to it is established using the Circuits screen. /O/ l\lT NFTW0RKS FCLPSF USFR MlNUlL Item Description DAC GE3 Basic Screen 8 Speed-Duplex. Select auto-detect or a specific connection type from the drop-down menu. Applies only to the electrical ports 1 to 3; SFP ports 4 and 5 are fixed for 1000 Mb full duplex. For ports 1 to 3 the normal setting is Auto, where the auto negotiation feature senses and sets the speed (10, 100 or 1000Base-T) and connection for half or full duplex operation. The fixed options are used where auto negotiation fails to provide the expected result or where a fixed setting is preferred: z Auto negotiation is not 100% reliable, particularly so where the connected equipment is using an older auto-sensing mechanism. z Links with a duplex mismatch will operate, but will generate a large number of errors and will slow throughput. z Generally, for auto negotiation, both interfaces should be set to auto for speed and duplex. z Full-duplex can only be achieved if both interfaces are either set for auto-negotiation or are manually configured to use full duplex. z Full duplex will not operate via a hub/repeater. These are half duplex devices. z If auto-negotiation is enabled on only one side of the link, it will default to half-duplex, regardless of what the other side of the link is forced to. z If one side of a link is forced to full duplex and the other is set to auto- negotiation, a duplex mismatch can occur. z You can force a new auto-negotiation by simply unplugging a host cable for 10 seconds. 26O-668O66-OO1 2O/12/2O1O /O5 \0LUMF \, CHlPTFR 7, N0DF lND TFRMNlL PLU0-NS Item Description DAC GE3 Basic Screen 9 Channel Mode. Provides selection of a fast-link-failure detection mechanism. Operation is through keep-alive messaging provided on each 2 Mbps or 1.5 Mbps container that makes up the Ethernet transport channel capacity. It is currently used with Link Status Propagation and adaptive modulation to support fast-switched failure detection and recovery. Note that operation is end-to-end over a DAC GE3 link, regardless of the number of radio links traversed. Channel Mode selection only applies where a transport channel (backplane connection) is used to connect to a RAC. The options are: z No Failure Detection (ES Compatibility). For use where DAC GE3 is linked to a DAC ES or IDU ES. z Rapid Failure Detection. Signals a failure condition on the channel if just one errored 2/1.5 Mbps container is detected. Use this mode for Link Status Propagation. z Rapid Failure Detection and Protection. Supports continuation of service in the presence of one or more errored containers. Use this mode for L1LA when operated using one transport channel to two physical links. See "L1 Link Aggregation on One INU" under Ink AggreguLIon on uge 8;. z Adaptive Modulation. Similar in operation to Rapid failure Detection and Protection, but with the inclusion of pre-notification to signal onset of a modulation change event. Use on transport channel adaptive modulation links. 10 Port Up. A tick indicates detection of a valid Ethernet connection. An invalid connection on an enabled port will result in a port-down warning alarm. Resolved. Tick indicates that a port has been auto-resolved for speed/duplex. The resolved tickbox is only applicable to Auto (all speeds) and to the fixed 1000 Mbps Speed-Duplex selections. Similarly, the green connection LEDon the RJ-45 port will only activate for a valid 1000 Mbps (1000Base-T) connection. NOTE: some optical SFPs do not support a resolved indication (is not ticked) even though the port is up and is traffic-carrying. Select from Auto, Master, Slave, Local. Default is Auto. Master/Slave options are used in conjunction with Synchronous Ethernet to specify a port's Ethernet PHY link clock mode. z Auto: The port auto-negotiates with its peer to either master or slave mode. z Master: The port is providing the network synchronization clock to its peer. In this mode the recovered clock (from a Slave port or TDMclock source) or the Stratum 3 clock is used. z Slave: The port uses the incoming network clock from its peer. z Local: The port is set to auto mode and the clock is generated by the local oscillator on DAC GE3. Use Auto for a normal port (SyncE disabled). When a port is selected as the SyncE clock source port, this port is forced to Slave mode, even if it is not selected as Slave. The SyncE clock-out port must be set to Master. NOTE: The clock source ports are selected in the Synchronous Ethernet screen. See DAC GE SynchronIzuLIon Screen on uge qz1. 8 MAC Address Learning. Address Learning is default enabled to support efficient management of Ethernet traffic in multi-host situations. The option to disable Address Learning is for use in a ring/mesh network where protection is provided by an external RSTP switch. Specifies the TPIDthat the switch will recognize as an Accepted Type for a VLAN tagged frame. The switch scans the incoming frame for a TPID. With 8100 selected only frames with a VLAN TPIDof 0x8100 will be recognized. With 88a8 selected, only frames with a VLAN TPIDof 0x88a8 will be recognized. With None selected, there is no recognition of tagged frames, even if they have a TPIDof 0x8100 or 0x88a8. 5 Apply Default VID. Allows an override of the incoming VLAN VID. With All selected it will force Tag0 to be set with the Default IDof the port (Port VID), overwriting any customer VLAN tag detected based on Tag0 Ing TPID. Only Untagged will force Tag0 to be set with the Default IDof the port (Port VID) for untagged frames only. 6 Port VID. The selected VIDis assigned to Tag0 depending on the settings above. Setable range is 0 to 4095. 7 Membership. In association with the VIDit provides a filtering function. It is used to specify the VLAN IDof Tag0 that will be accepted on ingress or allowed to egress the port/channel. The membership is based on the value of Tag0 as set above. Single or multiple VIDranges can be set, such as 2-4, plus 1001- 1050. The Port VIDand Membership establishes the cross-connect (the switch fabric). It is this that is displayed in the cross-connect graphic. 26O-668O66-OO1 2O/12/2O1O /15 \0LUMF \, CHlPTFR 7, N0DF lND TFRMNlL PLU0-NS Item Description DAC GE3 VLAN Advanced Screen 8 Egress Tag. This determines what happens to the internally applied Tag0 at switch egress. Note that all ingressing frames are cross-connected internally under Tag0 control. A frame will, for example, ingress a port and egress a channel, or ingress a channel and egress a port or ports. z If Nested is enabled on ports designated for VLAN transport, as in the example Advanced Mode figure above, the valid selection for C2 egress is Push Tag0, which means frames will be transmitted with the Tag0 VLAN setting (as the outer-most tag). z If Nested is disabled, the Apply Default VIDis set for Only Untagged, and a customer VLAN tag is accepted at ingress and assigned as Tag0 (Tag0 assumes the customer VLAN properties): z Setting Untagged on egress will mean the frame will be transmitted without the customer VLAN tag on egress (stripped). z Setting Tag0 will mean the frame will be transmitted with the customer VLAN tag on egress (transparent). z Setting Push Tag0 will push the Default VIDon top of the existing customer VLAN tag (Q-in-Q). z Setting Pop Outer Tag will pop the outer most VLAN tag, in this case the customer VLAN. 9 This sets the Tag0 frame TPIDon egress, 0x8100 or 0x88a8. Note that for compatibility with DAC GE, 0x8100 must be used. The VLAN Advanced screen supports ful l y fl exi bl e port and channel VLAN setti ngs. Port Default allows traffic on one port or channel to be prioritized over that on other ports or channels . This prioritization has relevance where two or more ports (or channels) share a common channel (or port). For operation in the presence of tagged frames, refer to the following QoS Truth Table. 7 Scheduler. When a port has multiple traffic classes enqueued for transmission, the scheduler is responsible for selecting the queues for dequeueing (forwarding). Each port/channel has standard queue scheduling options of Strict Priority (SP), Deficit Weighted Round Robin (DWRR), and a combination of SP with DWRR (Hybrid). z With Strict priority the scheduler serves a lower priority queue only if all higher priority queues are empty. z With DWRR the scheduler operates as weighted round-robin (WRR) with a deficit counter. A maximum packet size number is subtracted from the packet length, and packets that exceed that number are held back until the next visit of the scheduler. z Hybrid enables a combination of strict with DWRR. A typical implementation would have Strict for Q7 and Q6, and DWRR for the remaining queues. 8 Click to view/change scheduler operation. Icons are used to indicate the scheduler type and queue priority: z Strict is shown with a solid circle, and colored from purple for Q7 to gray for Q0. z DWRR is shown with a segmented circle, with segment size and color proportional to the weighting. z Hybrid shows the mix of strict with DWRR. Options are provided to: z Change default queue operation between Strict and DWRR. Note that selections must be contiguous - incorrect settings will be shown in red. z Change the weighting for DWRR. A naming box is provided at the top of the table to name and save a custom setting. z To save a custom setting, see Item 3 above. /2O l\lT NFTW0RKS FCLPSF USFR MlNUlL Figure 7-67. User ports on the DAC GE3 switch must be associated with their local and remote link ports/channels. In this example: z User port P1 has C1 as its local peer, and P1 is to be configured as the user port on the far-end (remote) DAC GE3. z User port P3 has P2 as its local peer, and P3 is to be configured as the user port on the far-end DAC GE3. See the following figure for example LSP peer settings. 3 Mode. The options provided are Normal and Degraded. z With Normal selected, a degradation in path capacity, such as can occur under adaptive modulation or link aggregation will not force a port shutdown. A link has to be completely down to force a port shutdown. z With Degraded selected , any reduction in link capacity will force a link/port shutdown. Link is degraded when current Tx capacity is less than maximum capacity. This mode is useful where there is preference on a customer network to switch to an alternate path when the Eclipse link is degraded (has reduced capacity), instead of being completely down. z Mode selection applies to both DPP and backplane links. 4 Timers are applicable to LSP operation to avoid frequent switching due to the radio link working at or close to threshold. Link Restore Timer. The link will be restored to service (port shutdown removed) after the selected timer delay - 1 second increments up to 60 minutes. Link Hold Timer. The link (ports) will not be shut down until expiry of the hold time - 1 second increments up to 1 minute. /2/ l\lT NFTW0RKS FCLPSF USFR MlNUlL Figure 7-70.
