Joseph Pascoe, Pastor Office Hours: Monday Friday 9:00-12:00 Monthly Newsletter October 2012
Greetings in Jesus name, If you recall we have been looking at the change the world around us is so desperately seeking. The need is real and the desire of God is that we would live out His commission with all people in all places. Quite possibly over the last month you have looked at your relationships and realized there are many opportunities to live it out, but you just aren't sure how or ready to do it. Maybe you looked at your life and were able to identify people that you know wouldn't fall into the "friend" category, that is ok because it is quite possible that those people are the ones God is nudging you to make your mission field. Hopefully you have come to the realization that your identity is not your own but Christ's alone, and you are His and He will shine through you if you let Him. You might be wondering how you are going to make this mission field effective, or how you are going to be Grace in it? I have no doubt that some of you even have thoroughly justified reasons for the previous relationship status with those that you are frustrated. God's word says in Matthew 5:44 though that, "we are to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us". I might also add that God's love is for them as well as it is for you. There must be an understanding of the grace of God which has been done for and in you; it is that grace which will enable you to be Christ's love for and with them. My first charge for you/us is to pursue Righteousness and then living it out in action through radical acts of kindness. There must be great care taken in this commission though to not allow this to be works righteousness, or doing good deeds so that your salvation is evident for all to see, but rather let it be a mindset of your heart. You see Jesus Christ performed one huge act of kindness that gave all access to the Father through His blood. It is through that kindness that you are saved and it is through that kindness that you can offer hope to those who are desperately seeking it. A recent example of this was on our mission trip to Chillicothe. We had a chance to eat a nice meal together and our waitress was busy and from the worlds perspective not able to give us the greatest service as her patrons. She was slightly irritable and seemed to want to be anywhere but there at that moment. I happened to look at the bill when we were leaving and saw that the leader had left a huge tip. I asked him what gives as that was not a reflection of the service for sure, but expecting something radical. His response was, "Joe radical acts of kindness with no strings attached, that's how we are going to reach people with God's love". God's love for us with no strings attached! Grace.......Amen!!!! I realize that this might be easier with those you don't have a record of wrongs with, but God doesn't distinguish his grace between those lists. Rather he cancelled them for all of us by nailing them to the cross. The opportunity for you to make a difference is that much larger as those who don't deserve your grace get it. It is also in that relationship that you cannot perform, so you must rely on Him who is in you. You must allow Jesus Christ to shine through you. We have the ability to give the world what it needs. The evidence shows that it is needed, and it is real that we as Christians have what the world needs. Now is the time to start living it out. As you start seeking new "friends" and give God the chance to restore old ones. Lets start with HUGE RADICAL ACTS OF RANDOM KINDNESS! Allow Christ to change the world through you, don't try to understand who or where just act in love. IHG, Pastor Joe I am always looking for dialogue around any topic that has been written or email pastorjoe@littlevalleyumc.org

Clothes Closet
Fall is here and that means school has started, the temperature is getting cooler & cold temps are right around the corner. We have seen a marked increase of traffic in the clothes closet this year, people are looking for long sleeved shirts, sweat shirts, pants, boots, hats & mittens. We are in real need of jeans for toddlers thru youth (boys & girls) & mens. Winter coats & hoodies of all sizes & gently used boots for kids right thru adult sizes. If you can help us with any clothing, boots, etc. It would be greatly appreciated. We ask please that all items are clean with no holes or rips.
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, Raca, is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, You fool! will be in danger of the fire of hell. Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:22-24 NIV
Missions
The mission team has met and set our dinner schedule for the 2012-2013 years all dinners will be from 4:30pm-7:00pm. The first dinner October 20th will be spaghetti & meatballs with breads & rolls, salad bar, drink & desert & price will be a donation. We invite you all to come, invite your neighbors & family, enjoy a good meal with great fellowship & support your mission team. You will be hearing more exciting plans of reaching out in our community to be the hands & feet of Christ.

Altar Flowers
Need a special gift for a birthday, anniversary or just because. What a wonderful opportunity to order an arrangement to have placed on the altar in honor of someone special that you can give to them afterwards. Contact Harriet ahead of time with your money to make those arrangements if youd like to do flowers for the altar on any given week. This is a small way you can help to beautify our altar on Sunday morning, help out the committee and have a lovely gift all at the same time. Please consider doing this.

If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. Deuteronomy 28:1-6 NIV
