NAME: Mohd Syafie Bin Azmi TITTLE: Grandad THEME: World Of Self Stories fill our lives in the

way that water fills the lives of fish. Stories are so all pervasive that we practically cease to be aware of them. Stories can be defined as an imaginative awareness of experience expressed through meaning, sound, and rhythmic language (Forest, 2006). It can be used to teach young learners because it is easy to understand. I have chosen to teach year 1 intermediate language proficiency student. The story entitles Grandad (Rachel, 2009) and base on World of Self theme that reflect on children daily life. There are many criteria that play an important role when selecting this story. First of all the language level of the book is low which means that the words used are simple and easy to be understood by year one pupils. According to Kim, the young learners have limited vocabulary that inhibits ideas and contributes to weak understanding (2009). They hardly understand complicated words. As a conclusion, the level of understanding is very important. It is because, children are able to focus if they have the ability to direct their understanding to the subject (Kelly, 2012). Next is the simple and colorful illustration of the book. Start from the image of the grandfather with his grandchild at the cover of the book that helps children to picture the whole story of the book. Since the picture is big and interesting, it will attract the student attention at glance (Rusiana, 2009). Year one pupils tend to keep their focus on a big picture thus the cover of this book will attract their attention when teacher showed the book to the pupils. In addition, this story contains interesting illustration which is colorful and large. Young learners love to read books with simple sentences and full with large and colorful picture. Thus by choosing this story, pupils will be attracted to read it because they will love to see the picture in this book. Apart from that, the books have many characters

and dialog which lead to good presenting of story. This will give me a chance to imitate the sounds of creatures, telling in a good intonation, gesturing and moving that make a story to be much more interesting Lastly, the moral value in this story is that pupils should appreciate their own grandfather. That is because, this book show many interesting moments of the granddaughter with her grandfather. Thus this will help the pupils to relate it to their own grandparents. This will lead them to loved and appreciate their grandparents based on what they has done to them.

NAME: Mohd Syafie Bin Azmi TITTLE: Hodge the Hedgehog THEME: World of Story Almost all of children in the world love storytelling. They enjoy something in imaginary. It is understandable because story provides meaningful contexts and natural repetition. Hence, storytelling could be an interesting way to be applied in young learner classroom to introduce English as a foreign language. Based on the theme World of Story for year 2 pupils, I have selected a story entitled Hodge the Hedgehog written by Amy Sparkes. The world of story is a theme in which the pupils will get to learn interesting stories that exist in the world. Since there are many types of stories that can be used to convey to the students, I choose this book because it is very interesting and contain good moral value. First of all the language level of this book is intermediate thus it is quite suitable for the young learners between age 7-9. Although there are several difficult words, but it is easy for the pupils to guess the meaning of these words. Thus this will enhance the pupils vocabulary. There are several repetitions of words in this books and it is very suitable for the year one students. This will lead the students to build their phonic by reading words which are repeated (Miscese, 2008). Apart from that, this story has many interesting illustration which is colorful and large. Young learners tend to read story that provide colorful picture with it. Since the picture is large and interesting, it will attract the student attention at glance (Rusiana, 2009). The books also contain suitable size and type of font that will help to grab learners attention. According to a research, the appropriate size and type of font will affect learners attention (William, 2010). Last but not least, the story shows a good moral value that could be followed by young learners. It illustrates a good cooperation between characters and tells us not to live alone, the more the merrier. Teacher should tell to the students that we should not be too stingy, sometimes sharing would be nice. They can make Hodge as an example.

The hedge was big but Hodge did not want to share it, at last he fall asleep and all the animals come inside his house and start to clean it. As the story end hedgehog feel very pleased when he saw his hedge. This is very important lesson for the pupils which is to live and share with others, the good cooperation also one of the lesson that can be follow.

NAME: Mohd Syafie Bin Azmi TITTLE: Walking Through the Jungle THEME: World of Knowledge

Kids or young learners can be defined as children who are in year 1 to 3 (Maquil, 2010). They love to play and have a joyful life. As a teacher, I must have good teaching strategy in order to make the learning fun and achieve the objectives. Based on the theme World of Knowledge for year 1 pupils, I have selected a story entitled Walking Through the Jungle written by Julie Lacome. The world of knowledge is a theme in which the student will get to learn about new things. Since there are many new things that the pupils will be able to learn in the story, so the usage of this book for the students are very practical. This story has many interesting illustration and very nice picture. The text printed is also in big font and it is easy to read. Students in year 1 will feel very attractive to read. So it will achieve the learning standards as stated in the curriculum specification that student will be able to take part with guidance by using the story. In addition, the language level of this book is intermediate and there are some new vocabularies that will be introduce for the students to learn. Since this story only used simple sentence, so the students will not have difficulties to interpret meaning. The usage of simple words and sentences according to learners age will affect their attention and understanding (Sara, 2011). Furthermore the vocabulary used in this story is very simple and easy to understand. So, it will lead to fun and enjoyable lesson. It also make the learning process is meaningful to the children. There are several repetitions of words in this books and it is very suitable for the year one students. This will lead the students to build their phonic by reading words which are repeated (Miscese, 2008). It also helps the learners to understand the story better because of the same words and sentences are being used in the story.

The last reason why I choose this book because of good moral value that has being showed in the story. This story will trigger the learners curiosity to explore the new things around them. These moral values can motivate the learners to explore the new knowledge and portray a good character of excellence student. Teacher can emphasize to the pupils that they should never give up when learning something because in the end, through hard work, they will find the things that he never dream of.
