REFLECTION Based on the assignment that I have received on 23 rd of July 2012, that required me and my group to find one traditional game and also we need to explain about how learning theory can be applied in this particular traditional game. My group has chosen a game called batu seremban which is one of the well-known traditional games in the society of Malaysian people. Why did we choose this game? It is because we have some experience in playing this particular games in which this game is popular and mostly played by young aged girls. Besides that, this traditional game also simple to be played by children because it does not need many equipment during playing this games instead this games only required a number of small stones that are usually six in amount. Not only that, this kind of game also involved many player in playing it because when someone cannot finished their turn, others will take their turn to play and it will go on to other player if the last player cannot finished their turn. I have chosen the social learning theory to be applied in this traditional game because it involved many players and this will create a social circle between them and this is suitable for social learning theory to be applied. Social learning theory can be defined as a perspective that states that people learn within a social context. It is facilitated through concepts such as modeling and observational learning. According to Social Learning theory, models are an important source for learning new behaviors and for achieving behavioral change in institutionalized settings. Social learning theory is derived from the work of Albert Bandura which proposed that observational learning can occur in relation to three models which is live model, verbal instruction and symbolic. Through this theory, I can see that this game has some of the features of this theory such as the observational learning theory in which the child will observe other before they played the game in order to understand how the game will be played. Not only that, as a teacher to be, I need to understand that children did not know everything and it is important for me to demonstrate before I can let the children to do it on their own because one of the reason is for them to understand what they have learned and

through observational learning, it is easier for the child to understand because they have seen it and children learned a lot through observation. Besides that, through this theory I can easily conduct a lesson through how they socialized because each child is unique and different from one another. I can conduct some activities such as group activities where they are needed to complete a task by discussing it with other children and this will improve their socializing skills and it also improve other skills such as cognitive and behavior skills with other children. To sum it all up, this kind of theory can be applied in a classroom of a large number of children because it also help in classroom management. Not only that, it helps in improving childs social skills either with other children or with teacher in accomplishing an assigned tasks.
