Welcome
In an increasingly competitive environment, companies that can successfully combine industry insight, market intelligence and corporate foresight will be more likely to succeed than most which is why the umbrella theme of this years Travel Convention is Insight and Foresight.
Through a series of thought-provoking, intellectually stimulating and entertaining business sessions, the Convention will focus specifically on the customer, the future and the industry, providing you with the insight to make winning decisions and the foresight to develop the forward, creative thinking that will help shape the future success of your business. This year, every session will have insight and foresight at its heart. From leading industry figures such as TUI Travels Johan Lundgren and Kevin Sheehan of NCL who featured in the US reality TV show Undercover Boss to consumer trend expert William Higham; Neuroscientist Baroness Susan Greenfield and QuBits pioneer of new web technologies, Graham Cooke, the sessions are shaping up to be our most varied and illuminating yet. We will also enjoy sessions from business experts including predictions on the future from The Telegraph and PwC; financial authority Anthony Hilton offering his thoughts on economic issues; and Guy Browning, who will be talking about creativity in business. Last, but not least in this Olympic year, it is with great pleasure that we will welcome Lady Cobham, Chairman of VisitEngland, and Katherine Grainger MBE, gold medal winner at London 2012, to the Convention stage. This is the first Travel Convention to take place in an all-inclusive resort, which was in part designed and developed thanks to the Turkish tourism industry anticipating future demand for quality, all-inclusive experiences. Weve tailored the Convention to suit your needs and expectations to ensure that the three days we spend together provide the perfect platform for peer-group networking, learning and debate. On behalf of ABTA, your leading Travel Association, I invite you to participate in as many sessions and discussions as you can. I can assure you it will be well worth it. Mark Tanzer Chief Executive ABTA Ltd
The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism is delighted to be hosting ABTAs Travel Convention for the second time in Turkey. On this occasion, it is being held in Belek in the region of Antalya.
Turkey is still a firm favourite with British holidaymakers, being popular not just for its value for money and accessibility but also for the variety it offers and high standard of services. As well as the classic sun and sea combination there are numerous sporting and outdoor activities on offer, great historical and archaeological sites to visit, and a delicious cuisine served with the warm hospitality for which the country is world famous. With more than 30 million foreign visitors, Turkey is proud to be the worlds 6th most visited holiday haven. A key golfing destination with an abundance of luxury resorts and hotels, Belek is a modern example of a Turkish resort, offering fabulous scenery in a relaxed environment. Delegates will be staying at the luxurious Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa or the sumptuous Susesi Luxury Resort, both fine examples of Beleks superb all-inclusive venues. On behalf of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, I am delighted to welcome you to Turkey and hope you enjoy a fruitful, inspirational and enjoyable stay in Antalya amid the beauty of Turkeys Mediterranean coast.
