Admissions to Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes for the year 2013
National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) will select candidates through two different channels for admissions to Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes for the year 2013. 1. Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Science (JGEEBILS). 2. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2012/GATE-2013). Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the JGEEBILS examination or their score in the GATE examination.

Eligibility:
Ph.D. (NEUROSCIENCE)

Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences/Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer applications/Pharmacy/Veterinary Science/Psychology from a recognized Institute/University or A minimum of four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering/Technology/Medicine from a recognized Institute/University. Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply. Only the candidates with at least 55% (for SC/ST/PH candidates, 50%) marks or equivalent grade from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points without rounding off to determine their eligibility. Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. (NEUROSCIENCE) Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences/Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer applications/Pharmacy/Veterinary Science/Psychology/Engineering/Technology/Medicine from a recognized Institute/University. Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply. Only the candidates with at least 55% (for SC/ST/PH candidates, 50%) marks or equivalent grade from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Reservation for SC/ST/PH candidates will be followed as per Government of India rules.

I. Application procedure for the candidates

appearing for JGEEBILS


NBRC is Joining JGEEBILS (Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences) with CCMB, CDFD, NCBS, NCCS and DBS (TIFR) for admission to its Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes. Candidates for both Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. courses have to appear for the same entrance test which will be conducted on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Candidates should first apply for JGEEBILS. For details of the test and submitting your application, please visit the website: www.tifr.res.in. For NBRC application, you will require the reference code generated while applying to JGEEBILS. 1. After applying for JGEEBILS, please submit a detailed application directly to NBRC. The application can be submitted online or by post. Online applications can be submitted at our web site: www.nbrc.ac.in 2. Offline applicants may download the prescribed application form and send the completed application to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122 051, Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). If you have trouble downloading the application form, you may send a request to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122 051, Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana) for obtaining a blank application form by post. You need to apply either online or by post. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY TWICE FOR THE SAME PROGRAMME. Both types of Applicants (Online/Offline) need to send a Demand Draft for the requisite amount, drawn in favour of Director, National Brain Research Centre and payable at Gurgaon or Manesar (please write your name, programme applied for and the reference code of JGEEBILS on the back side of Demand Draft). The Demand Draft should be sent by post to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122 051, Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). Last date for receipt of the Demand Draft at NBRC is 31st December 2012. The application fee details are given at the end of this notification. The interviews are likely to be held in the month of May/June 2013.The interview dates will also be published on the NBRC web site. GATE Score (GATE-2012 / GATE- 2013)


NBRC will accept applications from GATE qualified candidates (with 75 percentile or more in GATE 2012/2013) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology and Instrumentation Engineering only for its Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes. These candidates should apply to NBRC with their GATE score. The application can be submitted online or by post. Online applications can be submitted at our web site: www.nbrc.ac.in Offline applicants may download the prescribed application form and send the completed application to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122 051, Dist. Application fee:
The application fee for various categories of candidates applying for Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.Ph.D. programmes is given below. Category General SC / ST / PH Fee for Online applicants Rs.300/Rs.150/Fee for Offline applicants Rs.350/Rs.200/-

The application fee should be submitted by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, National Brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar. The candidates should send the Demand Draft to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). Please write your name and course applied for on the back side of the Demand Draft. JGEEBILS candidates should write their reference code also on the back side of the Demand Draft. GATE candidates should write their GATE Roll Number with year of examination also on the back side of the Demand Draft.
