Pray through Gods Story (Week 16)

Focus on God
Take some time to reflect on the greatness of God and the mighty works he has done throughout the Story. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples. You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. (Psalm 77:1115)

Respond from the Heart

Pray that we and our children will not repeat the mistakes of Israel, but repent and be faithful to Godthey should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to Godthey tested and rebelled against the Most High God and did not keep his testimonies, but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers; they twisted like a deceitful bow. For they provoked him to anger with their high places; they moved him to jealousy with their idols. When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel. (Psalm 78:8, 56-59)

Seek First the Kingdom

Pray for the Church that there will be a movement of those who are trained and passionate to tell the Story of God to their family, neighbors, friends, the poor and needy, and to all the unreached peoples of the world. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. (Psalm 78:2-4)

Present Your Requests

Pray that, like David, we will live a life of integrity before all people, and be faithful to lead the people God has entrusted to us. And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them, as everything that the king did pleased all the people. So all the people and all Israel understood that day that it had not been the king's will to put to death Abner the son of Ner. (2 Samuel 3:36-37) He chose David his servant and took him from the sheepfolds; from following the nursing ewes he brought him to shepherd Jacob his people, Israel his inheritance. With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand. (Psalm 78:70-72)

Close in Celebration
Thank God for the good things he has done or given to us as a gracious reward for trusting and obeying his will. For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you! (Psalm 84:11-12)
