Pray through Gods Story (Week 19)

Focus on God
God is our rock and refuge in times of trouble. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. (2 Samuel 22:2-4) Think of ways you have proven the truth of Gods Word. This Godhis way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. (2 Samuel 22:31)

Respond from the Heart

Take time to identify sins in your heart. Confess all of them to the Lord and ask for forgiveness. O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath! For your arrows have sunk into me, and your hand has come down on me. There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation; there is no health in my bones because of my sin. For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for meFor I am ready to fall, and my pain is ever before me. I confess my iniquity; I am sorry for my sin. (Psalm 38:1-4, 17-18) Thank God for the hope we have in Jesus and for his grace in forgiveness. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. (Psalm 42:5-6)

Seek First the Kingdom

Pray that Gods name be praised among the nations, over all the earth. Pray for a church planting movement to start in your area extending to other people groups over all the earth. For this I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations, and sing praises to your name. Great salvation he brings to his king, and shows steadfast love to his anointed, to David and his offspring forever. (2 Samuel 22:50-51) Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth!...I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds." (Psalm 57:5, 9-10)

Present Your Requests

Ask God to answer the cries of your heart for your children (if you have) or for other children (if you are single or childless). But Absalom fled and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son day after day. So Absalom fled and went to Geshur, and was there three years. And the spirit of the king longed to go out to Absalom, because he was comforted about Amnon, since he was deadAnd the king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And as he went, he said, O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son! (2 Samuel 13:37-39; 18:33)

Close in Celebration
Rejoice in God by sharing what God has done in the past days in showing you his favor and blessings. But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12)
