GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a digital mobile telephony system that is widely used in all parts of the world. GSM uses a variation of time division multiple access (TDMA) and is the most widely used of the three digital wirelesses telephony technologies. GSM digitizes and compresses data, then sends it down a channel with two other streams of user data, each in its own time slot. It operates at either the 900 MHz or 1800 MHz frequency band. With the rapid growth in commercial and residential housing and apartments globally, security market and particularly digital door lock sector has shown 20 percent growth each year since 2002. The growth combined with ubiquitous trend favors continuing growth in security and home automation.
ARM
The ARM architecture (previously, the Advanced RISC Machine and prior to that Acorn RISC Machine) is a 32-bit RISC processor architecture developed by ARM Limited that is widely used in embedded designs. Because of their power saving features, ARM CPUs are dominant in the mobile electronics market, where low power consumption is a critical design goal. ARM family accounts for approximately 75% of all embedded 32-bit RISC CPUs, making it one of the most widely used 32-bit architectures.
