STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Cars have always been a fascination for me since childhood. I was always eager to learn about their working. To achieve this fascination, I feel that United Kingdom would be the perfect place to realize it. The main reason to have developed an attraction to studying in the United Kingdom is the quality of education and the career prospects available there. Moreover being interested in automobile engineering, there is no better place than Europe to start a career. Another reason being, the importance given to research work. Research has become the sustainability for tomorrow and United Kingdom has become a pioneer in research fields. I will also a get the privilege to interact with the best minds of the world both as my fellow students and faculty. To speak of my schooling, I completed my entire schooling abroad, away from my home country, in Muscat, Oman. The major highlight of my school was the vast diversity in the students. There were different students from different parts of the world, and so I could interact with different types of students. This has given me immense confidence to interact efficiently under any situation. Another quality my teachers found in me, were my leadership abilities. Having a natural ability to lead, I was selected to lead my fellow companions in various situations and I can say confidently that I performed splendidly. Throughout my schooling, I was looked upon as a good academic student, always among the top students in the class, always engaging in extra- curricular activities, social work and most importantly a prominent sportsman. My first major inspiration was my father, an automobile engineer. Coming from an automobile background, words such as chassis, suspension, and silencer were household discussions. This was what sparked the passion for cars in me. It has always amazed me how automobiles were developed and how fast the technology was advancing. Every single new innovation in automobiles was explained to me by my father and by the time I was to complete my schooling, I knew much more about the automobile field than my fellow mates. I knew my future awaited me in this field, I also realized that a B.E in Mechanical Engineering would be the first step. And when I was awarded a scholarship to study Mechanical Engineering, I did not think twice. Now about to complete undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering, I now wish to specialize in automobiles. I have now acquired adequate knowledge about machines and their working and I am sure will be able to extend this knowledge into the automotive industry also. During my current course of study, I have been an active member of several projects. I have presented several papers and taken part in a lot many competitions. The field of Motorsport Racing has always kindled my interests and I am a dedicated fan of Formula Racing. When such

an opportunity came to me, I seized it up. Recently, I was a part of the team that took part in a race car competition, SUPRA SAE, it is the Indian version of FSAE. We designed a race car, entirely by students and took part in a race of 65 cars from all over India. And our hard work bore great result, as our design was adjudged the Best Engineering Design of the year. This competition has given me a good exposure to the automotive industry and has further increased my interest in the field. I got on field experiences on the various problems that we faced and how to solve them. I have also been doing very well in academics and I am currently having a CGPA of 8.85. While maintaining a good academic record, I have also been active in the research field. I am currently working on a project to redesign a Reusable Launch Vehicle. I had taken up this project with the sole intention that my knowledge in other fields may also increase. I have taken up leadership positions under various situations voluntarily, as I feel I can perform very well when I am put in command of a group. An automobile engineer in a reputed worldwide industry has always been my dream. The course specializing in Automobile Engineering will surely give me the experience and exposure to face the automobile world. And especially doing the course in United Kingdom will be of special importance as the exposure obtained there is vast, and I will be able to interact and discuss my ideas as well as learn new thoughts from different people. So that the knowledge and experience that I gain can be used to design and evolve ideas for the good of others. I am sure as a student, I will be of high regard and will definitely be a valuable asset to your institution. With these credentials I am forwarding my application to you.
