There are no official addresses the way we do them in the USA, but we will be staying with the head of our organization. We are scheduled to meet with community members throughout the day. Jorel will introduce us to community leaders and we will have meals with their families. Surveying, planning, information gathering etc. We will be implementing our project using all the data collected from the previous week. We will be informing residents how to work the new water system and store water safely

Ghana craft sales Individual Letter Writing Campaign Ghana Food Night and Documentary Screening Give a Dollar Campaign Krispy Kreme Fundraisers Crafts created through a womens vocational program in Ghana will be $100.00 sold on the Lerner Ramps and in the Diana. We will write a letter as a team and compile our own lists of at least 50 Throughout the $1,000 per friends/family members who we will send the letter to (by mail or email), Spring Semester person asking to donate to our cause. We will work with groups on campus to sponsor a Ghana Food Night where we will be serving traditional Western African food. We will also Last week of March $200.00 have a documentary playing created by Jorel, our program director in Ghana. We will ask for donations throughout the evening. Each team member will be given a manila envelope where they will go Throughout April around asking people to donate a dollar. This campaign will last through $800.00 total April. Obodanisaruralfarmingcommunityofaround1000peopleintotal(excludingits satellitevillages).Ourprojectsaffectalargepercentageofthetotalpopulation.Most ofthemenarefarmersonnearbypineapple/cassava/maize/plantainfarms,while thewomenstayathomeandthechildrengotoschool.Thereisanelectricalgrid thatallowssomehomestohavelightingand2boreholesfromwhichtheyfill bucketsforalltheirwaterneeds.Localschoolingonlygoesthroughmiddleschool ageandmostkidsstopgoingtoschoolinordertoworkandsupporttheirfamilies. OurwaterprojectaimstoimplementawaterdistributionsystemforallofObodan, addressingthewaterneedsofthevillage.Theprojectisacombinationofboth DirectServiceandEngagedScholarship,aswearedirectlyimplementingawater system,butalsoworkingwiththecommunitytodoso,ensuringitssustainability. Ourobjectiveforthistripistogetthisbasicinfrastructuresetupsothatthevillage hasaccesstopotable,effortlesswaterclosetotheirhomes.Currentlyvillagershave towaitinlineattheboreholesandcarrywatertotheirhomesmultipletimesaday, whichcanbeuptoahalfmileaway.Waterisstoredinlargedrumsineachfamilys home,sometimesfordaysatatimeinanattempttominimizetimeattheborehole. Ourtestshaveshownthatwaterstoredforlongperiodsposesahigherriskof contaminationthanfreshlypumpedwater.Thiswaterdistributionsystemwould reducethetimethewaterremainsinstoragebeforebeingused.Thesystemwill alsoallowthechildrentospendmoretimewiththeirstudiesandingoingtoschool, sincetheyarefrequentlytheonesfetchingwater.

Thepreparationforandconstructionofthewatersystemwilltakeplaceoveratwoanda halfweekperiod.Thiswillensurethatadequatetimeandcareisgiventothebuildingofthe systemsothatthebestqualitysystemcanbecreated,anditsfunctionalitycheckedand assured.Duetothecomplexityoftheproject,itisdifficulttogiveanexactdaytoday breakdown.However,wehavebrokendownourtasksaccordingly:Thefirstweek,theteam willmeetwiththevillagewatercommittee,conductanelevationcheck,mixandlaythe concreteslabforthetanks,installwatertanksanddigtrenchesforthesubmersiblepump, andtheninstallthesubmersiblepump.Duringthesecondweek,pipeswillbelaidnearthe pumpsandtanks,manholeswillbeconstructed,thepumpwillbewiredtotheelectricgrid, andpipesandspigotswillbeinstalled.Thelastfewdays,wewillfinishupconstructionof thedistributionsystembyfinishingplacingthepipes,flushingtheentiresystemwitha dilutedbleachmixture,makingaqualityassessmentofthewaterdistribution,and instructingthecommunityonmaintenanceandoperation. 4. OneStepUSAhassentgroupstoObodaninthepastfromotherUniversities,suchas Stanford,Duke,andMiami.Theprojectstheyveseenthroughhaverangedfrom constructedlatrinefacilities,tobuildingthreeclassroomsontothemiddleschool.OneStep USAistrustedbytheObodancommunity,whichgivesusnecessaryaccesstothe communitythatweneedtocompleteourproject.Furthermore,OneStepscommitmentto sustainabilityiskeytoourprojectimplementation.Ourwatersystemisdesignedwith sustainabilityasakeygoal.
