GUIDE TO ATMA SCORES 1. ATMA seeks to measure aptitude for management education in three principal areas : analytical reasoning, verbal and quantitative skills, which are developed over a long period of time. The test does not measure achievement in specific fields such as accounting or economics.
2. ATMA score report for each candidate contains four scores; analytical, verbal, quantitative and total. These scores are based on the raw scores of each candidate and are statistically scaled with reference to the entire population. The first three scores measure different constructs and are neither comparable nor can be added to each other. The total scores range from 200 to 800. The scores can be easily interpreted, compared in each construct category and used for specific purpose. ATMA scores cannot be compared directly to other similar test scores. 3. Also the ATMA Score report contains percentiles i.e. percent (%) below data. These indicate the percentage of candidates in the entire ATMA testing population, who have scored below the candidate in that category. For example, if a candidates score report indicates 53 percentile that means 53% of candidates have scored below him/her. Thus, the percentile score ranks an applicant to a management program, in relation to other applicants, who have taken the Test. 4. Only the candidates taking ATMA and the Management Institutes designated by them will receive the candidates scores. The Score reports will not be sent to anyone else. On payment of additional fee @ Rs.75/- per institution, the candidates may request the ATMA office to send their score reports to other institutions. Reporting of ATMA scores to educational institutions for admissions can only be done by the ATMA office. Candidates are advised not to send copies of score reports directly to the management schools, as they will not be authenticated by the ATMA Office. 5. ATMA scores are highly reliable with a low standard error of measurement. ATMA scores may change only marginally, if any candidate takes the Test again. All attempts have been made, within available resources, to ensure a high degree of predictive validity for the ATMA scores. 6. ATMA scores enable a student to locate himself/herself in a set of similarly placed candidates and enable the admission officers to evaluate each student in a common standardized scale. ATMA score is only one criterion, among other criteria for admission. The other criteria can be academic record, extra curricular achievements, application material, recommendation letters, etc. 7. Institutions that receive the ATMA scores are free to use them in any way, in their admissions process. ATMA administration is in no way responsible for institutional admission practices, which vary from institute to institute. Candidates are advised to contact Management Schools for clarifications about the use of the ATMA scores.
