Greetings! On behalf of the editorial board, we are pleased to introduce to you Sparks Magazine. The idea for Sparks Magazine emerged with the purpose of bringing forth a greater sense of representation of the Asian American population at the University of Florida. We hope to enrich the student body of Asian American student culture as well as bring a sense of belonging to anyone who can relate to our stories. As a start-up project that has been successful in its first two publications, we are eager to publish our third issue and launch our content-rich website this fall. With a full staff of editors, directors, writers, photographers and designers, our magazine will target approximately 5,000 college students in the greater Gainesville area, and our website will target the Asian American community above and beyond. Sparks is a non-profit, Asian American-interest student publication (for students by students) in which we do not receive funding from the University of Florida. Making our magazine successful online and in print can only be achieved with the generosity of individuals like you and your organization. Depending on the size of your contributions, we hope to print as many magazines as we can to be distributed free of charge this fall to the student body; the magazine will also be made available to view online. With the tremendous costs associated with producing and publishing a magazine, we sincerely hope that you will consider being an official Sparks Magazine Sponsor. What is SPARKS?
Sparks Magazine is currently the only Asian-interest publication at the University of Florida. We aim to bring into perspective the life of the Asian American student at UF, spreading stories about the community while also shooting sparks of inspiration into each of our readers. This year, our goal is to launch a website rich in content and multimedia to provide the latest news and features about the Asian American student community.
