Thirtieth SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - OCTOBER 28, 2012

RECOGNIZING JESUS The star of todays Gospel is a panhandler. Bartimaeus is blind, yes, but he is probably also homeless and filthy, a real nuisance to respectable citizens. Even so, it is Bartimaeus who recognizes Jesus as the Messiah, places all his faith in him, throws aside everything he has (his cloak), begs him for mercy, receives new vision, and follows Jesus on the way to suffering and death in Jerusalem. How desperate will we have to get before we can do the same? Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.

Happy Wedding Anniversary

N e x t S u nd a y S e c on d C o ll e c t i o n On November 3-4, 2012 we will take up Second Collection for the Parish Needs. Your contribution will support the growing costs of maintenance of the church, school, convent and the parish grounds. Thank you for your continuous generosity.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION What is the Church if not the assembly of all the saints? wrote the fifth-century bishop Niceta. Each Sunday, in the Profession of Faith, we express our belief in the communion of saints, the one bodywith Christ as its headmade up of those who are pilgrims on earth, the dead who are being purified and the blessed in heaven. We are not alone! The preface for All Saints begins, For today by your gift we celebrate the festival of your city, the heavenly Jerusalem, our mother. What astounding words! All Saints Day (like every solemnity) is nothing less than the festival of the fullness of the paschal mystery, our dying and rising in Christ. Of course, now in autumn the mystery comes clothed in glorious autumnal garb, and so we celebrate our Easter faith with signs of the harvest, signs of natures dying, signs of the homecoming that happens naturally when the weather gets cold and families find themselves together more often. While the dying can point to our own mortality, the homecoming reminds us of the mystery of our own resurrection with Christ.

ST. ALBERT THE GREAT SCHOOL NEWS

A PUMPKIN PATCH SUCCESS Even a tornado warning couldnt stop the St. Albert Pumpkin Patch
from becoming a success! Thank you to the volunteers! Without you it would not have been possible. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us! ST. ALBERTS ON FACEBOOK St. Albert the Great School now has a Facebook page. You can access it by going to www.facebook.com/StAlberttheGreatCatholicSchool. ST. ALBERTS RECYCLES
Paper Recycling: There are four bins in the carnival parking lot behind the school for people to place paper in for recycling. Please use them to discard your unwanted newspapers and magazines. All of the money raised by this program goes to help pay for school improvements. Box Tops for Education: These boxtops can be found on numerous grocery items. At any given time, everyone has several dollars worth in their kitchen cabinets, desks, etc. Mrs. Porfirio will be having another contest (date to be announced) so make sure to save your BOX TOPS, each one is worth a dime, what a deal! Ink Cartridges: We are still collecting used ink cartridges from copiers and printers as well as used cell phones, etc. (we do not collect powder toners). There is currently a cartridge mountain that needs to be sorted, packed, etc. If you need to earn your parish points, this is a job that can be done during the daytime at school. Please contact Mrs. Porfirio for more information.

Thank You to all parishioners who purchased Pope John Paul II favorite pastries kremowki last weekend, as well as to all who volunteered to help with the sales. Profit will be used for the renovation of our Parish Chapel. We hope that everyone enjoyed the cream pies, which at the same time reminded us of blessed John Paul II.

Prayer to end abortion Praise be to Jesus, praise, honor and glory to the Blessed Trinity now and for all eternity. Holy, Almighty, and Eternal God, please send Saint Michael, your archangel, change the hearts of all those who perform the abominable sin of abortion. Transform the hearts of all those who even now are contemplating abortion to rid themselves of the new and wonderful life you have just created which they carry within themselves. Transform the hearts of all who condone, support or leave untouched this horrible evil through their actions or inaction. Awaken their hearts with your Sword of Truth so that they may cry out to you Divine Justice, from the depths of their souls for your forgiveness and mercy. When they call out to You Father, forgive them of this grievous sin. Pour your immense all-consuming love into their hearts. Welcome them back into the fold as little lost sheep. Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd. Welcome back into your flock all sinners as they respond to your outpouring of Divine Mercy. Amen.
