But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.

which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. 14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by Can discover the real no one. value of all things

The child of God can know the real value of all things including :
Things that pertain to salvation Things that are vital for his relationship with God. Being able to properly evaluate the importance of many common things in everyday life such things as money, relationships, spouses and children, and earthly accomplishments.

But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

I have more insight than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. 100 I understand more than the aged, because I have observed Your precepts. 101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your word. 102 I have not turned aside from Your ordinances, for You Yourself have taught me. 103 How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104 From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ

The ability is found in accepting the word of God & the Disciples willingness to apply it everyday living. The Disciple of Christ knows that the value of some things is temporary, while the value of other things is eternal .

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Lets he who is spiritual consider the real But value of things appraises all things, yet
he himself is appraised by no one.

We, as Disciples of Christ define sin according to how God defines it, not man. The profane person cannot understand holiness; but the holy person can well understand the depths of evil (First Corinthians, Gordon Fee p. 118)

You do not understand the gravity of the most trivial wrong act when you think of it as a sin against the order of Nature, or against the law written on your heart, or as the breach of the constitution of your own nature, or as a crime against your fellows. You have not gotten to the bottom of the blackness until you see that it is a flat rebellion against God Himself (Psalms, Volume 1, Boice p. 278)

Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight That You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge.

Q: Why is it that Christians understand the power of sin and temptation better than anyone else?
Because we are those who are seeking to resist.

Everyday we acquire very valuable skills, such as

See the difference between the temporary & the eternal. Choose what is right over immediate gratification. Humbly admit when we sin and ask for help.

God describes Christians as:

holy He calls us saints. (1 Pet. 1:15,16 ; 2:9) those who will judge the world in the sense that our wise choices expose the foolishness of the world. (Matt. 6) those who are qualified and competent to help brothers and sisters in Christ with their problems. (Gal. 6)

Christians have the opportunity to possess the following invaluable skills:

Honesty & truthfulness Impartiality Compassion & Mercy Forgiveness Unselfishness
Genuine love Patience & forbearance Gentleness Self-control

We have the ability to share with someone the message that will bring them eternal life:
How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things (Romans 10:15) Go your way, stand and speak to the people in the temple the whole message of this Life (Acts 5:20).

We can bring words that cool heated arguments.

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Prov. 15:1

We can bring peace into troubled relationships; bring words that reconcile (man & God). When the gospel message was preached in the city of Samaria, in the aftermath, And there was much rejoicing in that city (Acts 8:8).

Priceless is this present moment! In this moment, one can hear the gospel, believe it, repent, confess Christ and be baptized. now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Cor. 6:2b redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Eph. 5:16

As Disciples of Christ, we experience things that are seemingly small to the world, however they are great blessings the unrighteous dead would give anything to possess!

What is the real value of the following, especially to one who is eternally lost?

The warmth of family & A new day? brethren? A hug from a loved one? A moment knowing that one A smile from a friend? is right with God? A kind & encouraging word? One single chance to be One minute of earthly time? saved? The ability to sleep?

Assess your values! Ask, Are my values, Gods values? Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?unless indeed you are disqualified. 2 Cor. 13:5
