Catholic Charities USA Names New Board Members-Elect and Officers-Elect; Honors Members Slated for Retirement:
Alexandria, VACatholic Charities USA (CCUSA), among the largest human services organizations in America working to reduce poverty and provide response to natural disasters, announced today its new officers and Board members, who are collectively poised to lead the organization into its second century of caring for those in need. CCUSA also recognized and thanked its retiring Board members for their dedicated service. We are deeply blessed in many ways as we work to benefit the least among us but in no greater way than by the caliber and commitment of those who guide us and lead us at the national Board level, said Rev. Larry Snyder, President of CCUSA. These individuals manage overwhelming demands on their time, but each generously devotes their talent and treasure to Catholic Charities. We are incredibly gratefuland very fortunate indeedto follow our 2010 Centennial year with these leaders. The CCUSA Board of Trustees named as officers-elect John Young, Chair, Yakima, WA; Kathleen Flynn Fox, Vice Chair, Naples, FL; Rev. Monsignor Michael Boland, Secretary, Chicago, IL; and Marcos Herrera, Treasurer, San Jose, CA. Joining the CCUSA Board for 3-year terms are: Marguerite Peg Harmon, Tucson, AZ; Bill Jones, Covington, KY; Andrew Linbeck, Houston, TX; Martina OSullivan, Santa Cruz, CA; and Rev. Monsignor Kevin Sullivan, New York, NY. Retiring CCUSA Board members are: Brian Corbin, Youngstown, OH; Paul Martodam, St. Paul, MN; Robert Siebel, Brooklyn, NY; and Janet Valente-Pape, Wichita, KS. These changes are scheduled to take effect at the September board meeting to be held during the CCUSA Annual Gathering in Fort Worth, Texas, September 18-21, 2011. Board Officers-Elect John Young, Chair-Elect, is the executive director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Yakima, Washington. Prior to joining this agency in 1996, he served Catholic Charities organizations in Mobile, AL, and Memphis, TN. Young joined the CCUSA Board in 2004, becoming Treasurer in 2006 and Vice Chair in 2008. He currently serves on the Board of Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Yakima as well as Circle of Success. Young serves as president of St. Vincent Centers and Catholic Charities Housing Services. He earned his bachelors and masters degrees in social work from the University of Alabama. Kathleen Flynn Fox, Vice Chair-Elect, is a principal with Silver Fox Partners, a marketing and communications company specializing in the U.S. retailing industry. Since 1980, she has been an avid volunteer working directly with children, promoting childrens literacy, and supporting programs that help those with special needs, including a literacy program for Head Start Children in Collier County, FL. Fox joined the CCUSA Board in 2007. She was honored by CCUSA in 2010 with the Centennial Medal in

recognition of her commitment to the vision and mission of the organization. Fox earned a bachelors degree from St. Marys College of Notre Dame. She has shared her marketing expertise over the past 30 years on the boards of numerous organizations including the Christ Child Society, Naples, FL. Rev. Monsignor Michael M. Boland, Secretary-Elect, has served as the administrator, president, and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago since 1997. Msgr. Boland serves the Archdiocese of Chicago in a number of other capacities: he is a member of the cabinet of His Eminence Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago and has served as Director of Human Services for the Archdiocese since 1998. Nationally, Msgr. Boland has served on committees of Catholic Charities USA since 1994, becoming a member of the CCUSA Board in 2005 and Chair of Social Policy in 2007. He served as a member of the White House Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Panel from 2001 through 2008. Msgr. Boland earned a masters degree in social work from Loyola University Chicago; a masters and bachelors degree in theology from University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary, Mundelein, Ill.; and a bachelors degree in business administration from Saint Xavier University, Chicago. Marcos Herrera, Treasurer-Elect, is vice president of Structural Integrity Associates in San Jose, CA. In addition, Herrera is a longtime supporter of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, volunteering for its Handicapables Program for nearly 30 years and serving on the local Board of Directors in many roles. He joined the CCUSA Board in 2005. Herrera earned a masters degree in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley; a masters degree in engineering management from Santa Clara University; and a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from San Jose State University. Board Members-Elect Marguerite Peg Harmon serves as the CEO of Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona. She also serves as a consultant peer reviewer for the National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research. Harmon received the CCUSA Keep the Dream Alive Award in January 2011. This award honors individuals who inspire the nation to keep the dream of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. alive through their work to reduce poverty in America. Additionally, Harmon serves on the national board of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., the Governors Arizona Serves Commission, the Regional Council of Arizona First Things First. She earned a masters degree in rehabilitation from the University of Arizona and a bachelors degree with a dual major in sociology and psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. Bill Jones currently serves as executive director of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Covington, Kentucky. His responsibilities there include serving as Executive Director of the Parish Kitchen. He has held various positions within the organization since 1981. In addition to his role as an Executive Committee member for the CCUSA Council of Diocesan Directors, Jones also has chaired previous CCUSA Annual Gatherings. He earned a masters degree in social work from the University of Kentucky, a master of divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary, and a bachelors degree in education from University of Florida. Andrew Linbeck is a co-founder and managing director of Salient Partners, a leader in providing sophisticated investment solutions for high-net-worth and institutional clients with a global perspective. He serves on the Investment Committee for Catholic Charities USA, while maintaining board memberships for several Houston-based charities and organizations. Linbeck graduated from the Executive Management Program at the Jones School of Business at Rice University, as well as earning a bachelors degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Currently serving as director for community engagement at Dominican Hospital CHW, Santa Cruz, California, Martina OSullivan previously held the position of executive director for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Monterey. She serves several community organizations, including chair of the Healthy Kids Initiative Steering Committee, advisor to the African-American Community Health Group, and honorary trustee of the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County. OSullivan earned a masters degree in social work as well as a bachelors degree in social welfare from Wayne State University, Detroit. Previously, she served as Chair of the Diocesan Directors Section of Catholic Charities USA and President, Board of Directors of Catholic Charities of California. Having served Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York since 1983 in progressively advancing positions, Rev. Monsignor Kevin Sullivan currently holds the position of executive director/CEO. He began his career as an associate pastor with St. Elizabeths Church in Washington Heights, NYC. Msgr. Sullivan frequently guest lectures at universities on the topic of financial management of non-profit organizations and social teachings of the Church. Msgr. Sullivan earned a doctorate degree in public administration from New York University; a masters degree in public administration from Columbia University; a masters of divinity degree from St. Joseph Seminary; and a bachelors degree from Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception. Retiring Board Members Brian Corbin is executive director of Catholic Charities Services and diocesan coordinator for Catholic Health Affairs for the Diocese of Youngstown since 2001. He continues to serve as director of social action for Catholic Charities, a role hes filled since 1987. Corbin is an adjunct faculty member of Walsh University in North Canton. He holds many board positions in his community and Diocese. Corbin joined the CCUSA Board in 2004 and chaired the Task Force on the Revision of the Code of Ethics. Corbin earned a bachelor's degree in moral philosophy and international relations from the Pontifical School of Philosophy of The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He is currently completing his doctorate in political economy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Brian obtained national Certification in Health Care Ethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia, PA in 2006. Paul Martodam has served as CEO of Catholic Social Services of Central and Northern Arizona and CEO of Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis. He is active with many community and social service organizations, chairing several boards. Martodam joined the CCUSA Board in 2005. He earned a masters degree in Public Administration from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and a bachelors degree in Psychology from St. Louis University in Missouri. Robert Siebel serves as the executive director/CEO of Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens. Before becoming director in 2002, he served as COO of the agency, crafting the agencys extensive disaster response efforts in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy. Siebel has been active with CCUSA for the past two decades, joining the Board in 2005 and chairing its Mission Effectiveness and Strategic Planning Committee. Siebel earned his masters degree in social work with dual majors in administration and family practice from Fordham University School of Social Work. He also holds a certificate from Columbia University Not for Profit Management Institute. Janet Valente-Pape served as executive director of Catholic Charities, Inc.,Diocese of Wichita for 18 years, retiring in 2010. She joined the CCUSA Board in 2004 and became Chair in 2006. Pape earned a masters degree in Public and Urban Affairs from Georgia State University in Atlanta and a bachelors degree in Sociology from DYouville College in Buffalo, New York. She has a reputation for action in her community, serving many organizations as a board member and helping to transform the level of support available to those in need in Wichita through Catholic Charities and other non-profits.
