ABOUT THE US ELECTION AND THE RACE TO THE YOUR ELECTION CHALLENGE

On November 6, 2012, the citizens of the United States will vote to decide who will become the 45th President of the United States of America .This next president could help to establish the role of the United States in the ever-changing world as we delve deeper into the 21st Century. This election could prove to be one of the most important of our time because of the issues that currently face the US nation including the Wars in the MiddleEast, the world energy crisis, globalization issues, and a staggering economy. What influence would this one man have over these issues in our world today? Could one man's ideas alter (=change) the course of the US on these issues? And if so, which man is best for the job? If you had to choose one candidate, who would it be and why? YOUR TASK You have a rare place in history, for you have been asked by BOTH the Democrats and Republicans to be the key note speaker at the National Conventions for each party! You can't possibly do both, but you want to speak at one convention or the other. Which man will you support, President Elect Obama or Senator Mitt Romney? Your task is to analyze the impact of the President of the United States on the attitudes of the nation and the world in the 21st century, and, in doing so, make your decision. To do this you will: Discuss the role of the President in the United States domestically. How do his plans influence the morale and ideas of the nation? To do this you will find multiple (2+) examples of a domestic Presidential action and its influences on the people of the US. Analyze the role of the President of the United States internationally. What impact does the President's actions have on how the United States is viewed internationally? To do this you will find multiple (2+) examples of an international Presidential action and its influences on the view of the US in the eyes of the global community.

Compare and contrast the platforms of the 2 candidates regarding healthcare, the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the world energy crisis, global climate issues, the nation's economy, and any other issues that you see as important. Create a persuasive position presentation for one of the two major party candidates running for the presidency. This could be created as a Power Point presentation, a webfilm documentary, an audio podcast or a narrated Voicethread presentation . This will be your speech that you will give at either the Democratic or Republican National Convention.
