Page 1 Artsy Crochet Bag

Materials 1.Worsted weight yarn in 2 colors. I used Red heart worsted and Lily sugar n cream. Color A- Aran for body of the bag Color B- Shocking Pink for flower 2. Hooks- I ( 5.5mm) and G ( 4 mm) 3. Yarn needle(Blunt sewing needle with big eye) and matching thread. Size Fit for a little girl. Dimensions of the finished bag : 6 inches wide at the bottom, 9 inches wide at top and 6 inches tall. Gauge Using Hook I and working in Hdc : 12 St * 9 Rows= 4 Inch square. Stitch Abbreviations Pattern is in standard American terms. sc- single crochet sl st- slip stitch hdc- half double crochet dc -double crochet ch- chain

Make 2 sides as follows Pattern for side With hook I Ch 20 Row 1: 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in each ch across----------------19 sc Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sc into same st as ch 1, 1 sc across------------------------------ 19sc Row 3: Ch 2, hdc into same st as ch 2, 2 hdc in next, 1 hdc in each st till 2 stitches left, 2 hdc in next, 1 hdc in last st-------------- 21 hdc Row 4: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as ch 2, 1 hdc across-----------21 hdc Row 5: Ch 2, hdc into same st as ch 2, 2 hdc in next, 1 hdc in each st till 2 stitches left, 2 hdc in next, 1 hdc in last st-------------- 23 hdc Row 6, 7 & 8 : Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as ch 2, 1 hdc across-----------23 hdc Row 9: Ch 2, hdc into same st as ch 2, 2 hdc in next, 1 hdc in each st till 2 stitches left, 2 hdc in next, 1 hdc in last st-------------- 25 hdc Row 10, 11, 12 : Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as ch 2, 1 hdc across-----------25 hdc Row 13: Ch 3, 1 dc in the same st as ch 3, 1 dc across, fasten off--------------------25 dc ( The gaps between these double crochet stitches will be used later to loop a long chain for embellishment) Join the Pink yarn with sl st where you fastened off and work as follows: Row 14 & 15: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as ch 2, 1 hdc across-----------25 hdc Row 16: Ch 1 , 1 sc in the same st as ch 1, 1 sc across, Fasten off-----------------25 sc One side of the bag is complete. Make one more as above.

Page 3 Flower Pattern 1. With color Aran and hook I , ch 4 and sl st to 1st ch to form a chain ring. 2. Do 6 sc into the chain ring and sl st to 1st sc-------------6 sc 3. * (Ch 4, Sl st into the same sc, sl st into next sc) . Repeat from * to form 6 chain loops. Fasten off. 4. With color pink, sl st into chain loop , (ch 1, 6 hdc, ch 1, sl st ) into same chain loop--- 1 petal made Repeat step 4 into each of the chain loops to form 6 petals . End with sl st to base of 1st petal. Fasten off and weave in the ends. Handle Cut 6 strands of Aran and 3 strands of pink, each 26 inches long. Hold 3 strands of Aran on either side of 3 strands of pink and tie them together as shown in the picture below. When it is long enough to form the handle, braid it and tie the ends. Make sure your handle has 2 inches extra to be sewn on later . Cut out the excess. Make 2.

Finishing

Hold both the sides together and do a round of single crochet

Loop the chain through the double crochet

Tie the chain in a bow

1. Place both the sides together and do a row of sc around with G hook. 2. Chain 138 with G hook and loop through the double crochet row. Tie a bow in the center.

Page 5 3. On the other side, sew on the flower as seen in the picture. 4. Sew the handles on.
