The Real District 4 Race - 1 Prizes for Answers - 2 Omar Ikka for America?- 2 Core Academy - 3 Editorials - 4

The race in the fourth district is heating up. The two candidates are Core Academy - 5 Steve King and Christie Vilsack. Steve King is the Republican candidate and Wills Corner - 5 Christie Vilsack in the Democrat candidate.

They are campaigning to represent the fourth district in the House of Representatives. Both candidates have very different views on how to they want to represent the fourth district. Steve King supports the farmers. He has passed a bill to make sure the farmers and producers have crop insurance, livestock programs, nutrition programs and conservative programs. Steve King says he will insure that farmers and producers have a voice at the table. This is one of Steve Kings strongest points.
One of Christie Vilsacks stronger points is improving education. Her plan is to make sure everyone has access to a quality education. These points are some the candidates key topics.

OMAR IKKA FOR AMERICA? ! Ikka is pro choice. Pro choice comes with a lot of dierent views. When choosing to be pro choice or not there are a lot of discrepancies within the campaign party. Most of the people picking wether to be pro or against it are very well educated about what their opponents are. ! Unlike Ulysses S. Alderado, Omar Ikka is becoming known and getting out there. The people in their party have very strong personalities and strong views. When asked who they were running against, Abigail Goodenows response was, No idea, I know the initials are USA, but its to confusing to spell. When asking Cody Poock what the opposing candidates name was he responded with John Morgan, and Trystan Wiedow replied with Useless something. ! I think this case could go both ways. Either the party of Omar Ikka is not paying attention to their opposer or is Alderado not doing enough to get his name and issues out there. Although Alderado has been slacking a bit on the decisions of his side, Rick Maris was quick to say I think that hes a worthy candidate to run against Omar Ikka, but he will soon fall short. The election is heating up as the decisions are being made and candidates are starting to talk. By: Paige Krause & Kiley Cousins

EDITORIAL: ULYSSES S. ALDERADO Opinions are in the house!! This part of the article, will be on the 6th hour class. You will be updated everyday of what is going on and what my reaction is to it. This would be your typical Democratic class. The candidate running for oce has quite the name; Ulysses S. Alderado, which you probably already knew. As you have possibly read in Fridays newspaper, the Democratic party was a little behind on what they are for and against. As of today, they started coming up with what these topics. Finally, right? I will have more of an insight tomorrow as to what these topics might be. When it comes to opinions, we all need to create our own. I will give as much variety as possible as to what is going on, but I will warn

EDITORIAL: OMAR IKKA TheRepublicancandidate Omar Ikka has nally started to take some standpoints on issues, giving us a better look into just who he is. For starters, he's against the death penalty and has said no touniversalhealthcare. This is a bit of a surprise, as theRepublicanparty platform actually supports the deathpenalty as an eectivedeterrentto crime, toparaphrasetheir stance. ! The fact that he supports no universal healthcare comes as absolutely no shock, as not a single Republican voted for it in the rst place; it simply passed over a Democratic majority. The opinion stated in a class members paper reads, "Socialism in the healthcare industry, like the overall concept of socialism, will not work." Powerful words, but ones to be expected. Other platform stances included a stronger military presence worldwide, especially in the Middle East, and the legalization of marijuana. They have not yet stated a denite view on abortion, making it unclear which side of support they will receive from the special interest group. ! Overall, this candidate seems to be a bit strong on

CORE ACADEMY

OCTOBER 30, 2012

! What does the teacher say? Friedrich, one of the Core Academy teachers had this to say about Core Academy: Its really good. His denition of Core Academy is, Its an interdisciplinary project based and competency based learning. Another change to the normal school status quo is what he explained as, we dont grade based on points or percentages, its kinda completion and self-paced. The students create their own projects based on their own interests at their own pace. ! But what do the students have to say about this class? Lauren Wickham has this to say: The key to this class is working hard and using your time wisely. The teachers are very helpful, but theres so many kinds that you have to kinda work it out by yourself.! ! Another student of the class, Nick Goodenow, responded to what the class was like as this, It was very stressful at the beginning, but I think its starting to fall into place with the assignments and projects. By: Mariah Wills WILL CORNER S ! The Frankenstorm. That is what news anchors and meteorologists alike call the upcoming Hurricane Sandy; but why is this one such a big deal? Well, with waters at record height already; winds potentially reaching 80 to 90 miles and hour; it being one of the longest lasting tropical storms; and not to mention it slamming the most populous area in the entire country; the damage it causes could be tremendous. The storm has already begun, but will continue until the end of the week causing immense damage via monstrous waves and incredible wind speeds. To put matters worse, blizzard conditions are arising in the northern Appalachians to couple with the tropical storm. ! The New England area is already taking necessary precautions such as shutting down Hudson Bay and stocking up on batteries and canned foods. Senior Meteorologist Stu Ostro calls Sand, ... the most extraordinary (storm) to have aected the United States. Keep PICTURE CITATIONS
