Students Participate in Preaching Event E. Glenn Hinson Lectures Appreciation/Memorial Gifts Building the Legacy
Addressing the anticipated six graduates and the BSK community will be Dr. Eileen Campbell-Reed who taught an intensive course on Prayer and Pastoral Care during the January term at BSK.
Dr. Campbell-Reed is Co-Director of the Learning Pastoral Imagination Project (Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN) which is asking the question: How is pastoral imagination shaped in the practice of ministry over time? As an ethnographer of ministry, she has studied both Baptist clergywomen and new and experienced pastors across a wide spectrum of Christian denominations. We invite you to join us as we celebrate with our graduates. A reception will follow.

His lectures, based on the book of Psalms, explored how hymns, as well as non-verbal music, shape and express human emotion before God. He described the necessity of both doxology and lament in spiritual formation with concrete examples from the history of Christian worship and devotion. Dr. Saliers reminded us of the depth and wisdom of this most personal and intimate book of the Bible. Also during the afternoon event, two BSK alumni presented some of their original music. Pat Ham (09), Executive Director of the Kidney Health Alliance of Kentucky, writes and performs with the group Rahabs Rope. The Lexington group of Pat Ham, Jana Dean (keyboards) and Stephanie Reams sang several original compositions based on personal experiences and some gospel favorites with guitar accompaniment by Jimmy Adams.
Members of Rahabs Rope Clay Lester (10), the former Minister for Students/ Communications at First Baptist Church, Frankfort shared an ongoing music project which had its beginnings in an independent study course with Dr. Jackson. Using his laptop computer to digitally create music and influenced by such musical genres as hip-hop and techno, Clay is attempting to compose a contemporary musical interpretation of the Book of Amos. He talked about the origins of his project as well as his intentions and hopes for it, and played tracks from his project.

In November of this past year the Seminary lost a very dear friend in the death of Dr. Brad Curry. Brads life and ministry was a wonderful witness to Jesus. His love for Gods work was evident in the many churches he served, his oversight of the Doctor of Ministry program of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and especially in the lives touched by his care. Over the last ten years, Brad adopted and identified publically Baptist Seminary of Kentucky as his seminary. He prayed for us, told the BSK story, gave financially and encouraged others to contribute to the Seminary.
