FULL SETS Ashigaru Armor, Full__________________3 Light Armor, Full_____________________5 Partial Armor, Full___________________8 Heavy Armor, Full_____________________11 Crab Plate Armor, Full________________15 * Having a full matched set of armor provides an additional +2 TNtbH because the components are designed to reinforce each other as well as including additional components. Replacing or adding additional components to a matched set increase s the cost of the new component by 50% to have it worked into the existing armor . * Suneate only protect the lower legs and are never part of a matched set, thus imposing no penalties or bonuses when included in a matched set. * Most sets of armor can and will include a kabuto and mempo, but the bonuses ar e not included in the sets listed above. Ashigaru Armor a. Light Armor - Do (leather clamshell), Haidate (brigandine) and Metal Jingas - Do (leather splint), Kote (splint), Haidate (brigandine).

Partial Armor - Do (metal splint), Kote (splint & chain), Sode (leather splin t), Haidate (brigandine), Suneate (splint). Heavy Armor - Do (metal clamshell), Kote (splint & chain), Sode (metal spli nt), Haidate (brigandine & chain), Suneate (splint & chain). Crab Plate Armor - Do (metal clamshell), Kote (plate), Sode (plate), Haidate (pl ate), Suneate (plate) [this armor is only available in a full set, as pieces rel y on each other to distribute the weight]. Do Kote Sode Suneate Haidate Jingasa Kabuto Mempo This is the torso armor, including 4 to 8 tassets. These are armored sleeves, sewn onto heavy cloth. These are the shoulder plates. These are the shin guards. This is the armored "skirt" that protect the thighs. This is the traditional conical Ashigaru hat. This is a helmet. This is the face mask.

Damaging Armor Any time an attack misses a target, but would hit them without any TNtbH bonus f rom armor, then the armor itself has deflected the attack. Armor can only deflec t just so many attacks before being damaged. Each time armor deflects an attack, the armor loses 1 point of TNtbH bonus. Once a component has been reduced to 0 TNtbH bonus, it has been damaged to the point of needing to be replaced or resto red (same cost as buying a new component either way). Non-rigid armor (anything not rated as plate) has the effective TNtbH reduced by 2 against subojutsu class weapons (dai tsuchi, tetsubo, etc) as the armor canno t deflect such mass impact weapons, but does not suffer armor loss from deflecti ng such weapons. Plate armor has the opposite effect, it gains full TNtbH against subojutsu weapo ns, but suffers normal armor loss from crumpling. Plate weapons gain Carapace 2 against all piercing and slashing attacks. Example: A bushi with Reflexes 3 and Defense 5 is wearing a matched set of light armor for a total TNtbH of 38 (Reflexes x5 + Defense x2 + 13 from armor). He is attacked by another bushi, who gets 29 for his attack roll. This misses the bus hi, but would have hit him had he not been wearing armor. In this case, the armo r's TNtbH bonus degrades from 13 down to 12. Repairing Armor Repairing armor requires proper tools and replacement materials (splints, scales , chain mail, etc) and room to work. It takes an hour and an Intelligence/Craft: Armorsmithing roll at TN 15 to restore 1 point of TNtbH bonus. Each Raise can r educe the time by 10 minutes (minimum of 30 minutes) or restore an additional 1 point of TNtbH bonus. Each rank of quality over standard that the armor possesses requires the person repairing to make a Raise to make sure the repairs blend in and are not obvious. A failed repair roll degrades the armor by one quality rank in addition to not r estoring the lost TNtbH bonuses. Plate armor requires a forge for heating and welding damage, and cannot be fully restored without. Plate armor repaired in the field without a forge cannot have its last point of TNtbH bonus restored. Creative application of fire magic migh t be able to be substituted for a forge. Example: A plate clamshell do grants a +10 TNtbH bonus. If it is repaired without a proper forge, it can only be restor ed up to +9 TNtbH bonus. Addendum to Existing Rules Akodo Bushi Their Rank 1 technique allows them the option to ignore the target's armor. With the revisions to the armor system, they now may ignore up to their School Rank x5 points of armor TNtbH bonus. Thus a Rank 3 Akodo Bushi can ignore up to +15 T

NtbH from armor. Called Shot - Armor Rending Called shots may be made to specifically rend armor by cutting straps and lacing , the weakest point of armor. The normal Raises are required by location targete d, and if successful, instead of inflicting Wounds to the target the attacker in stead reduces the armor by 2 points rather than one. Additional Raises may be ca lled to further reduce the armor value by 1 per Raise. Item Quality When using the item quality charts, each point spent can increase the armor TNtb H bonus by +2 for light or +5 for partial/heavy for a matched set, or +1 per spe cific component. For example, a fine quality pair of kote will grant an addition al +1, while a fine quality matched set of heavy armor adds +5. In the case of p airs, destruction of either will negate the quality bonus. Kakita Duelist Their Rank 4 technique allows them to strike the same place twice, ignoring armo r and reducing Carapace. With the revised armor rules, they may also use this te chnique with the armor rending called shot to rend armor then strike the exposed area on the follow through. If used normally, it counts as one attack for purpo se of degrading armor. Reinforced Swords Kaiu blades, dotanuki, o-katana and zanbato are designed for cleaving through bo ne and metal without damaging the blades. Thus, these weapon types reduce the Ca rapace of plate by 1. Any weapon with the unbreakable quality gains this benefit as well.
