Verbo TO BE - Ser o Estar
El verbo TO BE, que en castellano se traduce como SER o ESTAR, en el idioma ingls goza de una particular importancia. Su significado depende del sentido de la oracin. Por ejemplo: I am a doctor. Soy un doctor. (Se aplica como verbo ser) I am in my house. Estoy en mi casa. (Se aplica como verbo estar) EJEMPLOS He is happy because his mother comes back tomorrow.( el es feliz por que su madre regresa maana ) He is ill of the heart. (el est enfermo del corazon )
En el siguiente cuadro se puede observar su declinacin en el modo indicativo del Presente Simple: Tanto en el modo afirmativo como en la forma negativa pueden utilizarse las siguientes contracciones:
TO BE en el Pasado Simple, tiempo verbal que corresponde al equivalente en castellano del Pretrito Imperfecto y Pretrito Indefinido: EJEMPLOS:
The house WAS NOT white (la casa no es blanca) I was a student. (Era alumno.) You were happy. .(Eras feliz.) He was a musician. (Fue msico.) She was in the car. (Estaba en el coche.) It was a hot day. (Era un da caluroso) We were lucky. (Tuvimos suerte) They were ours. (Eran nuestros.) You were from Madrid. (Erais de Madrid.) I was not a student. (No era alumno. )
El verbo "To be" en futuro se traduce normalmente como: yo ser yo estar. Aunque conserva todos los usos que vimos en el presente. -Cuando se usa con There,significa Habr o Habrn: There will be a house. There will be two houses. Habr una casa. Habrn dos casas.
La respuesta corta se hace con el pronombre will para la respuesta afirmativa y won't para la negativa. Will she be a dancer? Yes,she will. No,she won't.

LA FORMA NEGATIVA SE EXPRESA CON THERE IS/NOT / THERE ISNT O THERE ARE NOT / THERE ARENT Examples:
There isn't a telephone in the kitchen. There isn't a balcony. There isn't an orange on the table. EN FORMA INTERROGATIVA Is there a balcony in the flat? Is there a Post Office near hear? aqui? Yes, there is No, there isn't Are there two telephone lines? Yes, there are No, there aren't OTROS EJEMPLOS: There is some water in the bottle There is some milk in the jar
No hay telfono en la cocina.. No hay balcn. No hay una naranja sobre la mesa.
