Nowadays one of the most important topics is the consumption of fossil fuel which produces too much contamination

and the necessity to change that for clean fuels. Ethanol is a chemical compound obtained from the fermentation of sugars that may be used as fuel, alone or mixed in varying amounts with gasoline, and its use has become widespread primarily to replace the oil consumption. The resulting fuel mixture of ethanol and gasoline or gasohol known as gasohol. Two common mixtures are E10 and E85, with ethanol content of 10% and 85% respectively. Ethanol is also increasingly used as an additive to gasoline oxygenate standard, replacing the methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE). The latter is responsible for a significant contamination of soil and groundwater. Can also be used as fuel in fuel cells. For the production of ethanol in the world is mostly used as a source biomass. Ethanol could be a good choice, because is cleaner and its a renewable one, the production of it is possible with corn and cane mostly. So its a long run option to help to resolve the global warming problem. Nonetheless there is no agreement in the generalized use of ethanol as a fuel. Its certainly truth that the use of this kind of fuel is environmentally friendly but the problem is not the consumption the problem is the production, because it will requires a lot of harvestable land in order to have the necessary output to satisfy the world demand. And this will make swap harvestable land for human food consumption for harvestable land for fuel provision. So one argument against is the prices of fruit and vegetables will rise, and itll go in detriment of the general life conditions of the poorest sectors of the world, and find out the poorest countries (who also are called non develop countries) in the world are whom have so much available land. Another point in favor of ethanol production is that the increase in the demand of ethanol will benefit them by more selling on the world of corn and cane. On the other hand experts say that none develop countries since the XIX have sold this kind of products and it has not helped to improve those countries. Another point in favor is that in the long run we will be able to have clean fuel, and being more effective in the production of the corn of cane to use less land, and take it and put to cultivate again vegetables and fruit. Against argument is the over exploration of the land becomes it unfertile, also to produce cane and corn to ethanol it will be used fertilizes and seed who are genetically modified, and those change the ph. of the land, and the crops which grows on that fields are unhealthy for human consumption, so this will become in non-harvest land to crops for feed humans. Besides we really dont know the consequences of the generalized use of the ethanol in the world, we already know that it produces gases but are 85% less than the produced by the fossil one, but this gases are different in compassion so until we start using ethanol we cant noticed what would be the secondary effects on the environment. Other problem is that all we used is based on a energetic pattern of petroleum, clothes, dishes, containers, even food needs of petroleum, and in the world the use of petroleum in fuels are too mucho big, and the change in only in the fuel would be to petroleum industry less profitable, affecting the secondary industries who needs this input to work. In addition the generalized use of ethanol put on the table the challenge to go on into a new pattern of energetic fuel, which will requires a change of all thing that use fossil fuel, change the way of producing cars, for example, and what is going to happen

with the obsolete cars? It would be necessary a lot of resources to make possible that chance in the world. And how it needs a lot of resources is possible to have a process of exclusion of none develop countries, and it makes the world even worse than now, making equal solution in a nonequal circumstances is a big mistake. In my opinion the ethanol as a fuel in the same way as we have the fossil is not a solution. And are not for two principal reasons. First because is a solution for rich countries due to are they whom consume the most part of the fuels in general, and where the inputs necessaries to produce ethanol are going to crop it is in none develop countries, is an unequal solution, and what world needs is an equal solution, the environment is the same for all countries so the participation in the solution for all countries has to be same, is not an option if we want a better world. But we could see that our present system is not equal at all. The second is that ethanol is not a solution for political reasons, because the petroleum patter lends to rich countries have an a domination relationship with the others, who has petroleum are not the rich ones, but are they who buy that input and transform it into a fuels mainly gasoline, and the market of this are the countries who have the petroleum, but they depends in a big way of selling of it, so they cannot do anything until rich make possible the change, and the rich arent going to leave those business so easily. In conclusion the use of ethanol is a hard decision, have good reasons in favor and a lot against. But we need to see that most of the negative sides of the use of it in the world comes from the organization of our actual society who is not a equal one, so what we is work in the transformation of our social relationships only that would be possible to make deep solutions in the topic of the world warming.
