I am still trying to wrap my mind around a comment I heard today on the radio. Alaster Begg was preaching on the prodigal son. He was going through in a story telling style as if you were right there with the tax collectors and Pharisees listening to Jesus tell it. He made the bystanders make several humorous comments, as he often does when he preaches [if you have never heard of him you need to check him out onlineone of the best preachers; of course, he is from Scotland!]. Nonetheless, he made this comment about the father in the story representing God And God ran! I didnt get to hear the rest of his sermon but that phrase has been stuck in my head ever since. A God who would run! Now try that on other gods and see what images you conjure up! Try this one: Buddha ! Yet in all seriousnesswe get to know and enjoy the God who will run to His people. That concept in the minds of the world amounts to foolishness. But to one who is suffering and wants forgiveness and wholeness again pure delight! To be honest, it brings tears to my eyes to think that our God would run to me and wrap me in his arms, allow me to bury my face in His chest and simply hold on. Simply back home in His armsthink about it. In Christ, Pastor Matt
