Warstones drive WV4 4PG

We have a dedicated volunteer who runs computer classes. We have a hair dresser, for all service users in the building. Help us and support us to keep Warstones Resource Centre open. Allowing us to provide a much needed service to allow others to gain their independence, self confidence, better quality of life. For us to be there in a crisis or just to relieve the pressure of looking after a loved one .

This is not just a building, but the heart of the community

HELP SAVE OUR SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY

Published by Wolverhampton general Branch Working with our community

What we provide for our community and south west area Rehabilitation Unit with 12 beds This unit is for services users who have been in hospital and have had hip/knee replacements etc. also if service users have lost mobility or confidence due to illness or falls. Highly trained staff along with a physio and OT enable the service user to gain their mobility and confidence to return to their homes. Whilst staying with us we arrange for any adaptions needed for their homes, also involving social workers to provide any care they may need. We have the support and help of local doctors ,chemist and district nurses to enable us to support service users with medication, dressings injections etc. This is done within a 6 week period but maybe longer depending on individual needs.

Respite Unit with 7 beds This unit is for service users to come and stay with us for short periods of time , due to family members who care for them needing a break. It may also be because their main care needs to go into hospital or that their home is being refurbished . Dementia Unit with 7 beds This unit is for service users with dementia, with all the same reasons as the respite unit. As are all staff within the building they are well trained but have dementia training including Dementia Champions. Because the unit has only 7 beds it enables us to give service users better person centered care. We also provide 72 hour emergency beds. Examples of the cases of when they are needed are; A gentleman was brought to us because the police had found him wan-

dering the streets not suitable dressed for the weather in the early hours of the morning, confused and distressed. A lady had been burgled she was frighten and her family lived in another part of the country. A ladys care and family member had sadly passed away. Day Centre provides day services for 25 service users through a social worker to come and spend the day with us, giving their carer a break or interacting with others as they live alone. Friendly staff provide assistance with care needs or just a chat, also organised activities for those who want to join in. We also have drop ins these are people with in the community who are over 65 and want to come for a meal and join in activities. All they have to do is order their meal the day before they come, which is prepared by our excellent kitchen staff. This is provided at a value
