The Greatest Benefits of Using Evernote 6 Mess-to-Zen Situations

When I first found out about Evernote I was a bit skeptic. I was looking for ways to leverage time and to take notes faster, but I was close to the conclusion that nothing works better than pen and paper. Unfortunately, pen and paper werent working that well either I even started to think about myself as an against tech person (ironically, huh?) because I couldnt get accustomed to anything besides the traditional (yet incomplete) method of taking notes. There was a time when I got used to writing everything in Word documents, but guess what? I couldnt find the right titles for each word document and I eventually ended up with piles of documents having no idea what they contained. Whenever I needed something & I knew I had prepared a Word document with all the notes I needed, I just had to open all my documents and see what was in them in order to find the one I was looking for. Oh, I just hated that drill. It wasnt working, it was time-consuming and it was really frustrating. But since I couldnt think of a better way to store information, I was stuck with Word and this is exactly how I was feeling each day:

I cannot remember exactly how I came across Evernote and having tried several other similar programs, you can imagine why I looked at it without much enthusiasm. But what made me try it was again the large amount of Word documents that I couldnt handle anymore. Whats one more program to test? I created an account on Evernote and downloaded their software. After a week of not having gotten used to it I gave up. Two months passed and I was getting more and more frustrated; eventually, I decided to give Evernote a second try. I put aside all my tasks for that day and I started learning how to use it, I searched for tips and techniques and by the end of the day I came to the conclusion that it was a promising start. Now, what I love most about Evernote is that you can store information in the cloud and divide it into different notebooks. I am still using the free version because I havent yet filled my free storage dose. I can share notebooks with whoever I want, I can even clip the articles that I like and store them on my Evernote account! And this is how ZEN I feel now:

Today I am going to tell you how to use Evernote in 6 different ways:

1. When you are away from your computer.
Yes, Evernote can sync your documents with your tablet, smartphone or every other device that has an internet connection. So whenever you are on the run you can access your files without having to carry your laptop everywhere. What is more, every note that you make from your smrtphone, for example, it automatically synced and you will be able to view it from other devices as well.

2. When you want to save an article or a link that you like.

One morning you stumble across a great article or an amazing piece of news but cannot read it on the spot. You can use Evernote Web Clipper and it will crop & save the important part of that link meaning the article/video that interests you. Then, later in the evening when kids went to bed and your favourite show is over, you can come back to your article and digest it.

3. When you want to remember things from the real world.

It sounds a bit weird, doesnt it? But lets face it: there are things from the real world that we often forget about. What was that delicious wine I had last week with my friends? What was the name of that cool restaurant we had dinner two days ago? We forget things and names, but Evernote can remember them. Snap a photo, record a video, add an audio file add them to Evernote and you will never forget anything again!

4. Create notebooks for your research paper.

If you want to save your notes and all the information you gathered from the internet, books and magazines, you can now organize them in a folder on Evernote. This way you make sure that everything you need for your research paper is just a click away. Youll soon conclude that you finished your paper earlier than you planned thanks to this brainy tool.

5. Stay in touch with colleagues, clients and friends.

I also use it to stay in touch with my clients. Whenever I find something newsworthy or something that is of great interest for my clients, I make sure to clip that information to my Evernote account.

6. Save your recipes, organize your next trip, use it at home.

You see, the cool thing about Evernote is that it is not only a business-oriented program. You can use it at home, when cooking or when you want to organize your next trip. So if Im going to visit Prague and I also want to have a taste of the country, I can create an itinerary, I can save historical info about the city, I can decide upon what restaurants I want to eat at, and I can save them all on my Evernote account. And while Im in Prague, I can cook from my hotel apartment without having to take my recipe book with me. If youre not already using Evernote, I suggest you make an account asap. Im telling you from personal experience that it is a program that you will want to keep close to you.
