Because from my experience, there are Earthly Rewards when I followed God. One obvious example? Since I learned to love others the way Jesus loved me, Ive enjoyed the most wonderful relationships. My marriage, my family, and my friendships arent perfect, but theyre absolutely beautiful. Another example? Since I started following Gods instructions on loving my body (eating the most nutritious food on earth, avoiding wrong food, and surrendering all worry to God) Ive enjoyed robust health. Again, its not perfect, but man, I love the vibrancy and strength I feel in my body. My final example: When I remain humble by always improving my businesses because I want to serve my customers more, I see financial blessings flow into my life. Why? Because thats what the book of Proverbs says. (More on this later in the talk for today.) permanent What should I do? Complain to residents God? I think its crucial that we listen to God about that very special subject. After all, were temporary residents on Earth but

Peter once asked Jesus: We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us? (Matthew 19:27). But we could paraphrase it like this: Weve given up a lot to be here. Is it really worth it? Some of us may well ask the same thing. We have given up a lotcareers, families, jobs, status, pridein our spiritual journey. But is it really worth it? Is there some sort of a reward in store for us? We often talk of rewards in the kingdom of God, and many members find this very encouraging and motivating. It has put eternal life into terms we can relate to. We could envision ourselves with a physical prize that makes our sacrifices seem worthwhile. And the good news is that our labors and sacrifices are not in vain. Our efforts will be compensated because Jesus says that whenever our motive is right, when our labor and sacrifice are for His names sake, we will be compensated. It will really be helpful to think of the kind of rewards God promises for us. The Scripture has quite a bit to say about it. God knows that we do ask the question and we do need an answer, so He inspired Scripture writers to talk about rewards. And I am confident that when God promises something, we will find it extremely satisfyingfar

Rewards are more powerful than punishments. And as a motivation, they are more effective. Last Sunday, we embarked on a new series entitled UNLI: Subscribe to Gods Limitless Rewards Plan. And to start on the interesting topic, Bro. Eng discussed effective rewards where he left us with a powerful message: Dont focus on the pain, focus on the prize. It may take time before we could reap all the goodness that we have sown here on earth, but we can always expect something in store for us. You reap what you sow, more than you sow, and later than you sow. There will be times when even the seeds of goodness planted by others would benefit us during harvest timea proof of Gods faithfulness and generosity. So while life may not always be fair and our efforts go unnoticed, we can be sure that God sees and appreciates our hard work. -Daniel Vallesteros
Proverbs 10:4,5 Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. He who gathers crops in the summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son. Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his childrens children. Personal Reflection and Group Discussion: Can you think of past experiences on how rewards motivated you to do the right thing? _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________

Today marks a momentous event in the lives of Filipino Catholics another Filipino known for his undying passion to proclaim the Gospel will be canonized to officially become a Saint. Blessed Pedro Calungsod, who fought for his faith to the grave, will officially become a part of the canon, the list of recognized saints. Young Pedros life revolved around preaching Christianity, baptizing the unchurched, and doing missionary works. To the people of Ladrones Islands (now Marianas Islands) in Guam, he was the young catechist who accompanied the Jesuits in their mission to make Jesus Christ known to all. So together with the Spanish Jesuit priest Diego Lus de San Vitores (also beatified in 1985), Pedro preached the Gospel to the Ladrones inhabitants and baptized infants and adults at the risk of being persecuted. But eventually, this stirred jealousy among some of
the locals, who then started a rumor that the missionaries Padre Diego and Pedro were poisoning the baptismal water. Incidentally, sickly infants were dying outleading people to believe the rumor to be true. So one day, when the priest and the boy were about to baptize the village chiefs newborn, they were attacked by the village leader and an accomplice assassin. Standing by his faith, Pedro (around 18 then) stayed with Padre Diego instead of escaping for dear life. Hit by a spear to the chest and finished off by a final blow to the head, Pedros life was ended but not his flaming passion for the Gospel. Pedro Calungsod, now a saint, joins the roster of the holy men who have been interceding for the faithful. As the late Pope John Paul II recognized him, he will be a role model to whom the youth can draw encouragement and strength from. - Celine Gao
