YOUTH LEAGUE SPEECH (Party leader Hon. Peter Kenneth, party chairman Mr.

Herbert Mwachiro, the Kenya National Congress executive council and my fellow delegates good morning) The lives we lead are largely determined by phases and seasons. There is a season and a time for everything and like the sons of Issachar in the good book, the Bible, its prudent to understand the times we are in. Certain opportunities just open up at a certain phase in our lives and when that phase is over the window to that opportunity is closed. As a nation we have gone through various phases. First it was the colonial times. Our fore fathers fought for independence from the white man and the climax of this phase was the attainment of independence in 1963. Then came the next phase when our heroes and heroines had to fight for the second liberation of this country. Top on the agenda in this phase was reforms. The journey started in 1990 when section 2A of the constitution was repealed to allow multi party-ism and reached its climax when we got the new constitution in 2010. Its my conviction that we are now in another phase, a phase where we are focused on fulfilling vision 2030. Top of the agenda during this phase is national development. For every phase that we have been through before, there were leaders who led the movement. Its notable that most of these leaders were in their youth. Only in our youth do we have the energy, zeal and stamina to fight. As young people in Kenya National Congress youth league gathered from every part of this country, we are here with you today to

take a solemn vow to be soldiers in this new phase where development is key. We are determined to stand together and work towards building a brighter Kenya. We refuse to be selfish. We refuse to think of merely momentary gains that we can achieve right now at the expense of our nation. We choose to fight on, not only for our sake but also for the sake of the generations to come. We are not those who give up. We are not those who fall off by the way side. We are those who choose to go all the way to the finish line. Like Mahatma Gandhi we are practical dreamers. We make our dreams become a reality. Like the great Dr. Martin Luther King jr, we understand the fierce urgency of now. We cannot wait. We must start building a brighter Kenya for ourselves and for future generations and we must start now. In every movement, we realize that there must be that person who carries the banner and leads the soldiers to battle. As the youth we have spotted such a man. A man of his word. A man who has a track record. A man best placed to spearhead this nations development agenda. When it comes to development, there is no one better. That man is Peter Kenneth. In Peter Kenneth we see a leader who works hard and has climbed the ladder. When it comes to progressive leadership, in Peter Kenneth the young have a role model. in Peter Kenneth we find a man who relates to the youth. A man who is a bridge between the young and the old. A man who the young have tested and found him worthy of their service as demonstrated in kenya football federation. In peter kenneth we find a man who inspires hope to the nation, hope that it is possible for the nation to prosper with good use of public funds like the cdf. Hope that

it is possible for anyone of us to be a leader without a big name behind you, without a godfather, without being asked who your father was or is, in Peter Kenneth we see a future filled with possibilities. In Peter Kenneth, there is a brighter Kenya for sure. In Peter Kenneth, there is a better tomorrow.

Today, we are handing this man the banner and asking him to spearhead this movement. And we are certain that with him at the helm, we will get to the promised land. With Peter Kenneth, we will make the next five years count.

My fellow delegates the task ahead is not easy. But let us make sure that Peter Kenneth makes it to the finish line in first place.

Thank you for listening. God bless you, God bless our presidential candidate Hon. Peter Kenneth, God bless Kenya National Congress and God bless Kenya.
