The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath (Mt 12 :1-11) Bible reading of Sunday, Nov. 11
1

At that time Jesus went through the grain elds on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads
2

of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.
3 4

He answered, Havent you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God,
5 6

and he and his companions ate the consecrated breadwhich was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. Or havent you read in the Law that the priests on Sabbath duty in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are innocent? I tell you that something greater than the temple is here. If you had known what these words mean, I desire mercy, not sacri ce, [a] you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.

Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue,

and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason

to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?
11

He said to them, If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?

Vision and Mission of the Year of Faith

Vision and Mission of the Year of Faith

The Renewal of the Church through the Life Witnessing of the Faithful The renewal of the Church is also achieved through the witness o ered by the lives of believers: by their very existence in the world, Christians are called to radiate the word of truth that the Lord has left us. This life witnessing to the Lord demands from us an authentic and renewed conversion to the Lord, the one Savior of the world. In the mystery of his death and resurrection, God has revealed in its fullness the love that saves and calls us to conversion of life through the forgiveness of sins (cf. Acts 5:31). This love leads us to a new life. This new life through faith will transform the whole human existence through the reality of the resurrection of the Lord. Faith working through love (Gal 5:6) becomes a new criterion of understanding and action that changes the whole of human life It is the love of Christ that lls our hearts and impels us to evangelize. Today as in the past, he sends us through the highways of the world to proclaim his Gospel to all the people of the earth (cf. Mt 28:19). Today there is a need for stronger ecclesial commitment to new evangelization in order to rediscover the joy of believing and the enthusiasm for communicating the faith.

Faith Grows by believing An upcoming workshop will be conducted by National leaders on Saturday, October 13 from Faith growsto 1:00 pm If you are interested, you may contact Joy Achen, Emmanuel Achen or 9:00am when it is lived as an experience of love and when it is communicated as an experience of grace andCheriachan Kizhakkebhagam for more information or you may find theto bear life-giving witness. joy. The cost to the Lords invitation or $50.00 his 4 or It more people. become his disciples. Believers, so St. Augustine tells us, strengthen themselves by believing. Only through believing, then, does faith grow and become stronger. One has to dedicate to hands of love, having its origin from God Profess, Celebrate and witness the faith publically One has to profess the faith in fullness and with renewed conviction, with con dence and hope. We have to intensify the celebration of the faith in the liturgy, especially in the Eucharist, the summit towards which the activity of the Church is directed; and also the source from which all its power ows. The faithful have to grow the credibility of the witness of faith. A Christian may never think of belief as a private act. It is both personal and communitarian. Faith is choosing to stand with the Lord so as to live with him. This standing with the Lord points towards an understanding of the reasons for believing. Faith, precisely because it is free act, also demands social responsibility for what one believes. The faith that we have received and recited must be kept ever present in our minds and hearts, we must repeat it in our beds, recall it in the public squires and not forget it during meals; even when our body is asleep, we must watch over it with our hearts.
