7 Step Lesson Plan Template

Name: Hannah Little Grade Level Teaching: Ages 5-7 (Depending on the severity of a Date: Unit 4 Part 2 students condition and how much experience they already have). Subject: Speech Therapy (Grammar) Instructional Standard: Students can properly use singular and plural forms in word/sentence form. Instructional Goal: Students will be able to define singular and plural, look at visuals to determine singular and plural, and be able to speak and communicate using singular and plural forms correctly. Essential Content: Definition of singular and plural. How to apply singular and plural. Looking at the differences in singular and plural. Knowing the difference in singular and plural in speech as well as written work. Time Estimate: About 60 minutes. Instructional Phase Introduction to Lesson: Remind the student of the previous grammar lesson on what consists of a sentence-a subject and a verb. This will help him when having to form sentences with singular and plural words because he will have the basics on how to form a sentence. Begin by Time: 5 showing the student pictures of a single object and then the same object minutes but a plural example (for instance, a picture of an elephant, and then a picture of a herd of elephants). Ask the student what the difference is in between the pictures so that the teacher can gauge how much he already knows about singular and plural before beginning to teach. -Use Roy the Zebra website to let the child play the singular and plural games (http://www.roythezebra.com/reading-games-lesson-plans/lessonplan-singular-or-plural.html). -Explain to the students that Lucy the elephant in the game is really sad because she is stuck in the zoo. When the student correctly sorts words into singular and plural, they will be able to give Lucy a present and make her happier. -Show the students how to drag singular words to the correct spot and the plural words to the correct spot. Show them how to add gifts to Lucys present box when they correctly place the singular and plural words. -The game demonstration can be shown on the Smart Board as well as on the computer. -The teacher asks the student to make up a sentence using the correct singular and plural forms when she gives them examples using flashcards. Independent Practice: -Student uses the flashcards to practice recognizing singular and plural. -The student practices writing sentences using correct forms of singular and plural from their flashcards. -The teacher gives the student a worksheet so that he can group singular and plural words and practice making singular words into plural words. -Student continues playing the singular and plural game on the computer. As he keeps playing, he will be able to move up a level and play the game with a little more difficulty. Closure: Debrief with the student. Ask him what he has learned. Ask him to give a brief explanation of singular and plural words, and ask him to give an example of each in a sentence giving him prompts if necessary.

HW Assignment (Assessment) The student will do a homework assignment using the Web 2.0 tool of Hot Potato. The teacher will use Hot Potato to create matching exercises and multiple-choice problems to help the student practice recognizing singular and plural words and how to use them correctly in a sentence.
