! Looks like were in for another four great years, or not so great years, depending on your political preference. President Barack Obama won the election last night. Twitter was, to put it simply, bursting with tweets, and constant updates throughout the night. Trending topics changed by the minute, updating the votes, with Obama nally pulling ahead in the end. The race started o 3-33 with Romney up. However, as the night went on, things took a turn for the worst for the Romney campaign. ! Romney ended up losing in his hometown, as well as in the state that he governed in -- Massachusetts. His running mate, Paul Ryan also lost in his hometown. He did however end up taking home points from, surprisingly, the state of Illinois. Ohio, one of the key swing states followed along to Obamas victory during last nights election. ! As of 11:30 last night, Romney was winning the popular vote by a mere 355 votes. Neither of the candidates had spoken to the American people yet. CNN was reporting that Romney could not believe that he had lost the state of Ohio. They clearly pointed out, that even if he had won Virginia, Ohio, and Florida at this point, wed still be standing in the same situation that we have today. Barack Obama has been re-elected as president of the Untied States. ! On the following page, youll be able to see the poll results on who SLHS predicted to win for various state elections, as well as the nal results on page ve. COOKIES :: DID YOU MEAN BRIBERY?

! How do you win an election? You buy it. Or at least thats what the candidates of this election are doing. Omar Ikka and Ulysses. S. Alderado have been passing out various treats to students in the hallways between classes. It seems as if students arent the only ones being bribed though! Mr. Friederich, a teacher from SLHS, was given cookies by Ulysses S. Alderado, but these treats come with a hefty price. ! In order to get the cookies, students must promise the candidate their vote. In Mr. Friederichs case, he had to help promote Ulysses S. Alderados campaign. As there are no rules against handing out treats in elections, this may help sway voters. Students must remember that while treats are good, they do not last forever. Some students will accept treats from both candidates. Others will, as promised, vote for the candidate that gave them treats. In the long run, you should elect a candidate that will do their best to bring forth and follow through with the tough issues. WILL CORNER S ! Last night there was sweat trickling down necks, palms moist and shaking in anticipation while knowledge was ying through the air. That is right. The evening was November 6th, the night of 2012 SLHS Quiz Bowl Playos. The entire season was on the line for the Great Eight teams that went head-to-head to determine the nal two teams that would showcase their trivia skills at Kiwanis for the championship match. ! The night started o with excitement as the Kent team narrowly defeated the Ites team to move on the the semi-nals. Then the Stokke team lost their dream of moving on to the semis by a one-hundred point margin as the Schmitz team secured their seat in the semi-nals. Next game, the McGuire team made a statement by taking the next semi-nal spot with their win over the Norland team. Finally the Norris team took Brockmeyers team by a comfortable amount. Then the nal four was created. Kent, Schmitz, McGuire, Norris. The nal match created the two

teams that will enter the championship on Thursday at noon. Schmitz and Norris will go head to head to nd out who is the 2012 SLHS Quiz Bowl champion. By: Will Norris
