CONTEST GUIDELINES
NURSERY RHYME 1. Participants must be a Kinder pupil having 7-10 performers . 2. Music, choreography, costume and props are recommended. 3. Criteria for judging shall be observed: Mastery 40% Choreography 30% Creativity 30% STORY TELLING 1. Contestant must be Grade I pupil. 2. There shall be one (1) contestant per school. 3. Stories must be an original or contextualized in Mother Tongue memorized by the pupil. 4. Delivery time is 3-5 minutes only. 5. Contestants are encouraged to wear appropriate attire or costume depicting the story to be rendered. 6. Criteria for judging shall be observed: Mastery of piece 30% Projection/stage presence 25% Diction 25% Voice 20% POEM RECITATION 1. Contestant must be a Grade II pupil with one (1) contestant per school. 2. Contest piece attached in the enclosure of Div. memo shall be used. 3. Wearing appropriate attire or costume is advised. 4. Criteria for judging shall be observed: Mastery o piece 30% Projection/stage presence 25% Diction 25% Voice 20% INTERPRETATIVE READING 1. Contestant must be a Grade III pupil, one (1) contestant per school. 2. Contestants shall be asked to read a story they choose from the set of story books prepared by the organizer/chairman. 3. They must be in school uniform. 4. Criteria for judging shall be observed: Ability to read orally with accuracy and fluency 30% Correct oral interpretation 30% Voice projection 20% Confidence 20% DECLAMATION 1. Contestant must be a Grade IV pupil, one (1) contestant per school. 2. Contest piece provided by the Division Office shall be followed (please see enclosure) 3. Proper attire is required. 4. Criteria for judging shall be observed: Pronunciation/enunciation 20% Mastery 30% Emotions/gestures 25% Voice quality 25% EXTEMPORANEOUS SPEAKING 1. Contestant must be a Grade V pupil, one (1) contestant per school. 2. Must be in school uniform. 3. Sequence of the contestants shall be by draw lots to be done before the contest proper. 4. Each contestant shall pick a topic/question to discuss 4 minutes before his/her delivery.

5. Four (4) minutes preparation will be given to each contestant and 3 minutes to deliver his/her speech. A bell shall ring to indicate the end of 3 minutes, where the contestant will have to end his/her speech within an allowance of 10 seconds. 6. If the contestant refuses to end after the allowance of 10 seconds, penalty of 5 points will be deducted from the average score. 7. Topics/questions will be based from the theme: 2012 Festival of Talents: A Tribute to Bicolano (Libongueno) Learners and Teachers. 8. Criteria for judging shall be observed: Content and knowledge 30% *relevance to the topic *grasp and use of information *substance and comprehensiveness Organization and structure 30% *logical and interesting flow *consistency of thought *easily understandable Delivery and speaking skills 30% *pronunciation/enunciation *style and variety *rate and tone *range and vocabulary Stage presence 10% *gesture and animation *personality and confidence ORATION 1. Contestant shall be a Grade VI pupil, one(1) contestant per school. 2. Must be in school uniform. 3. Contest piece provided by the Division office shall be used. (please see enclosure) 4. Criteria for judging for judging shall be observed: Articulation/Voice quality 30% Mastery of piece 35% Emotions/gestures 25% Stage presence 10%

*Contests shall be done simultaneously on the assigned room. *Attention: Room managers shall be in-charged on the flow of the contests. *Registration form shall be submitted on Tuesday afternoon during the meeting of all school English coordinator at 1:00 H.E. room, Libon Central School. *School English coordinator shall submit question/passage/topic centered on the theme for the extemporaneous speaking.

To: All School Heads District English Coordinator School English and Reading Coordinator Concerned Teachers

1. The 2012 District Festival of Talents on Reading will be conducted on November 16,2012 at West Carisac Elementary School, West Carisac, Libon, Albay. 2. With the theme: 2012 Festival of Talents: A Tribute to Bicolano (Libongueno) Learners and Teachers, a one day activity that would serve an opportunity to show talents under Reading Program and other literacy works. It aims to encourage pupils showcase their talents in reading, enhance pupils level o confidence and competence through a friendly competition and appreciate love for reading. 3. Participants to this activity are Kinder to Grade VI pupils of 22 schools in Libon East, coaches, PSDS , school coordinators, school heads and other concerned teachers. 4. Each participant together with the coaches shall be charged a registration fee of 15.00php to cover the operational expenses to be taken from personal, PTA or school funds. 5. Only the first shall participate in the cluster level on November 19, 2012 at Polangui South Central School; though top 3 will be declared by the chairman of the Board of judges per event. 6.
