Sep 4, 2007 8:28 am PT Welcome to the official topic for the newly posted Fantasy Draft and Trade

FAQ! I will accept any questions, sample teams, or anything related to the FAQ here. I will also say when I update the FAQ or find out something else. I'm open to suggestions for future versions as well. So here is much of the important information posted in my previous topic "Fantasy Draft Tendencies Update- I did more research"... I have confirmed that the fantasy draft in franchise will go pretty much the same way every time. In fact, if you let the CPU pick every time, there will be no differences in the teams. I also noticed that the CPU doesn't overreach for young talent that much. Calvin Johnson was the top rated reciever on the board (5th round), meaning that a much older Isaac Bruce was taken over him. Some Position Runs and other things: -17 CBs are taken in the 3rd round (10 in a row) -Every player in the 4th round after Springs and Adalius Thomas are Tackles and Recievers except McNabb who comes before T.O. -Owens, Driver, Moss, and Roy Williams go in a row. -5th round is for DEs. Isaac Bruce is taken 2 picks ahead of Luis Castillo. Then another WR isn't taken until Calvin Johnson- Round 6 Pick 1. -18 Guards in a row in round 6. -Mario Williams is the last pick of the 6th round. -MLBs and DTs go in the 7th. -The first Centers go in early 8. -OLB and HB in 9. -Sean Taylor early 10. -Vick- 10th round 12th pick. -Gates is 2nd in the 11th round. -First FBs go in the 11th. -Round 12 is the QB (best available are two 89s and Vince) and SS round -FBs in the 13th. You can get Jamarcus Russel here. -14 is for DEs starting at 86 overall and TEs. -15 FSs -16 has CBs and WRs. -18 Tackles -Every player in the 20th round is an OLB -21 DTs and QBs -Every player in round 22 is a Guard. -23 QBs -24-25 All Kickers/Punters, the top punter comes before viniteiri. ---Moochhttp://www.seerayrun.com/ Ray Rice 4 Heisman (select an action below) ______________ Quote Reply

Some might think it is cheap or wrong, but guys like Al Wilson, Donavon Darrius, and Domanick Williams really help when you need Champ Bailey. -The only way to make a good trade for someone who is a premier player, once again I'll use Champ Bailey as an example, is to add players of the same position that either take down the A++ rating to an A, or boost one of your own player's ratings. -To get Champ I had to include Ellis Hobbs. Not only was he a D, but he made Champ Bailey's value go down to an A making it easy to include Al Wilson (C+) and someone else for him and draft picks. -An example of boosting the value of your own guys is when I traded for Calvin Johnson. Santonio Holmes by himself was a D, but when I signed Eric Moulds (an F), Holmes' rating moved up to a D+. The final deal was something like Santonio Holmes, Eric Moulds, and another D free agent for a B+ Calvin Johnson. -Since it is easy to get certain positions in a trade, I decide not to draft them until late. CBs go fast, but why waste the 4th overall selection on Champ Bailey? there is a point in the draft that no more CBs get taken for a while so just take Fabian Washington and Ellis

Hobbs. It is the same for almost every other position. So just wait for young talent at the position and pick them to trade. Adam Carriker is a D+ and I will be getting Tommie Harris for a 20 something rounder and some spare change free agents. -After I traded for Champ Bailey (I know this post is starting to revolve around him lol), I noticed that his former team the Jets really were terrible. You can't win with Seneca Wallace starting at QB, and Kerry Rhodes as your best player. So I tried packaging some of my picks because I had 4 fouth rounders by then. I now have 2 1st rounders, 1 2nd, 1 4th, 1 5th, 2 6th, and 2 7th. Not all teams allow you to trade a first for a first, but the Jets did so since I figure I'll definitely at least make the super bowl and the Jets will be a top 5 selection, it is a good trade. Yank11 said: My advice is once you get the players you want (or at least most of them) Start signing FA's and package 3 of them together for a 1st round pick. I did this and had 4 1st round picks. ***I forgot to mention that when you sign free agents you should give them a great salary but NO SIGNING BONUS!!! That will mean you don't have to pay anything when you trade. ---Moochhttp://www.seerayrun.com/ Ray Rice 4 Heisman (select an action below) ______________ Quote Reply Quick Quote Quick Reply just some trade tips that I found out...

-Signing free agents to trade is Huge. Whoever you want the most actually I guess. 2nd Round: Someone like Vilma, Tatupu, Hall (last pick of round 2), Freeney, 3rd Round: If you pick Early in the next round take either defense or a Tackle. If you pick late in the next round, you might want to take a great reciever. 4th Round: Early take either T.O. or Moss. Late take a DE if you don't have one. 5th Round: If you really like Calvin Johnson you know what to do. Otherwise take a Guard. 6th Round: Lots of Guards go here. If you pick early take one. If late take a MLB if you don't have one or Vance Wilfork unless he will be available to you early 7th. 7th and 8th- I pretty much pick A.J. Hawk and Demarcus Ware every time. By the 9th round you should have something like this: WR, T, G, DE, DT (optional, you could have gotten Hall), MLB, OLB, OLB, 9th: Take a HB- either Edge, Rudi, or Bush 10th: early take Vick or Sean Taylor, late take Gates or someone to help with Defense (SS). 11th: It is best to pick late here. The next round is the QB SS round so take either of those positions. 12th: You need a QB by now, and a SS. If you have both take a TE or whoever. 13th: If you want, Jamarcus Russell. I would take a DE. 14th: Take a FS or good young CB or WR. 15th: Good young CB or WR. 16th: Good young CB. 17th: Tackle 18th: whoever 19th: OLB 20th: DT target Carriker 21st: Guard 22nd: QB 23rd: Vinateiri 24th: Lechler By using this method, you can have: QB, HB, WR, WR, TE, T, G, G, T, DE, DE, DT, OLB, OLB, OLB, MLB, CB, CB, FS, SS, K, P.

and 2 whoever picks with it... So I guess everyone should try this because it coincides with my position runs and you will get people just before the talent at that spot runs dry. ---Moochhttp://www.seerayrun.com/ Ray Rice 4 Heisman (select an action below) ______________ Quote Reply Quick Quote Quick Reply Try going for something like this when drafting...
1st round: Someone dominant on D like Urlacher (3rd), Merriman (6th), Peppers (8th), or Seymour (21st). the trading really baffles me.........if i try to trade reggie bush for tomlinson or LJ, it's impossible.......however, if i trade reggie bush for a 1, 2, 3 and then trade the 1, 2, 3 for tomlinson or LJ, i can get either guy. and i also get a 4th and 5th round pick in return.......and then there are other cases where it makes more sense to trade a player for a player......ie; when trading for champ bailey, include a CB such as tye hill......i really can't figure out the logic........ For FB I just draft one in pretty much the last round and trade him with a scrub for Neal. So I hope you all use the guide and find it helpful. sorry for so much text lol. Too bad I skipped the draft order by accident :\. I pretty much stuck by your order on your post, with a few small tweaks. I had the 8th pick overall in the 1st round. Ill try and remember it best I can 1st round: Julius Peppers 2nd Round: DeAngelo Hall 3rd Round: Roy Williams (I passed on T.O and Moss, Im a sucker for young talent) 4th Round: I took Frank Gore here. HB is a key position for me, I can't have a player ranked under 90 here and saw on your FAQ that he would have been picked in the 5th round I think. 5th Round: I think I took a Guard here. 6th Round: Took an MLB here I think 7th Round: Wilfork 8th Round: AJ Hawk 9th: I think I took Sean Taylor here, I had a late 10th round pick and Sean Taylor is one of my favorite players so I had to pick him up. 10th: Phillip Rivers 11th: SS 12th: Dont remember what I picked here, a 2nd OLB I think 13th: DE. 14th: CB I think

15th: WR. 16th: Center 17th: Tackle 18th: Tight End I think 19th: I dont remember, FB maybe 20th: DT 21st: Guard 22nd: Cant remember 23rd: Vinateiri 24th: Lechler Here's my roster, which Im pretty content with. I think Ive done atleast 10-15 fantasy drafts and am finally happy with my team: QB: P. Rivers (89) HB: F. Gore (93) FB: O. Hoyte (77) WR1: R. Williams (92) WR2: M. Clayton (85) TE: J. For example the Raiders are one of the worst teams in the game and it seems the quality of their draft picks have a higher value. In multiple draft creations I noticed their 1st round pick always had a B+ value and could be traded to a team like the Patriots (who are good) for their 1st, 2nd and 5th picks. In a moment of boredom I was able to trade the Raiders 1st pick to a higher ranked B+ team for their 1st and multiple picks. I then traded that teams 1st to a team that was a little better and receive their 1st and multiple picks. I continued using this set up of trading to teams that were slightly better to get more picks. By the time I had worked this about 15 times I was loaded with good draft picks. It's just a matter of figuring out the order the game ranks the teams from worst to best. From what I can tell the Pats and Chargers are at the top and Vikings and Raiders at the bottom. Common sense will take you a long way with this. You get a little help with the letter grades on the picks also.

This also seems tied not only to draft picks but also to the value of their players. In one draft I was trying to acquire Sean Taylor from the Patriots. I don't remember exactly but his value was very low and I traded for him and gave up very little. In another draft he was picked buy the Vikings and his value was so high it was not worth the trade. These are my observations and would like someone else to check into this and verify it.
