Sacrament of the Sick In the event of serious illness or medical emergency, Anointing of the Sick and Eucharist may be arranged by contacting the Parish Office. Call (949) 257-8017 for a medical emergency after 8 p.m. Sacrament of Baptism Parents of infants requesting information about Baptism may contact the Faith Formation Office, 496-6011. Infant Baptisms are celebrated on the first and third Sunday of each month following catechesis for parents and godparents of candidates. Celebration of Christian Funerals At the time of death, a family member should contact the parish office, as soon as possible, to arrange the date and time for the Funeral Liturgy. Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Adults requesting information about full initiation and communion with the Roman Catholic Church (the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) may contact the Faith Formation Office , 4966011. Sacrament of Matrimony The Sacrament presumes active sacramental participation on the part of one or both persons. Couples must begin preparation for their Sacrament at least six months prior to their proposed wedding date. Please call the Parish Office for more information. Eucharistic Adoration On the first and third Monday of each month we gather in prayer and praise before the Blessed Sacrament. Dear Fellow Parishioners; With our national election behind us and hopefully a country now willing to learn how to work together with greater harmony for the common good, I am always reminded of how challenging that is for us as a country and as a church. Yet as Catholics, we believe we are bound together for a higher purpose and so we try our best to live and act faithfully in accord with the Gospel and the teachings of the Church. This week I am asking you to consider how you see yourself and your family as members of this community of St. Edward the Confessor / San Felipe de Jesus. Are you active and engaged in the life of this parish? Would you like to be more active and engaged in the parish? One of the ways we invest in our parish is through our regular financial commitment. We are beginning our 8th year of our annual Offertory program when we ask you and your family to consider regular financial giving through your contributions using envelopes, or Parish Pay. The commitment begins in January, 2013, but I am asking you to start thinking about this now as you budget and plan ahead. Many of you have been remarkably generous in the past and I am very thankful for your witness to good stewardship. By now you are aware that our Diocese purchased earlier this year the Crystal Cathedral Ministry property in Garden Grove. The church has been renamed Christ Cathedral and in time this will become a beautiful and powerful witness to our Catholic unity. A major capital campaign to pay back the loan and refurnish the facility for Catholic worship will begin in early 2013. Every parish is going to be asked to raise their fair share and assist the Diocese in developing this new Catholic Center. It is my hope that our good stewardship and your generous and committed giving will help keep our parish financially strong as well as contribute generously to the needs of the Diocese of Orange. Queridos feligreses, Ahora que ya dejamos las elecciones atrs esperemos que esta nacin aprenda a trabajar en equipo y para el bien comn. Yo siempre tengo presente lo difcil que es esto para nosotros en nuestra comunidad parroquial. Pero siendo Catlicos, creemos que debemos trabajar juntos por un solo propsito y esforzarnos para vivir y dar mejor testimonio de fe de acuerdo al evangelio y las enseanzas de la iglesia. Esta semana piensen como se ven ustedes y sus familias como miembros de esta comunidad de San Eduardo el Confesor/ San Felipe de Jess. Estn activos y comprometidos en la vida de esta parroquia? Le gustara ser un miembro activo y comprometido en esta parroquia? Una de las formas en las que usted puede estar comprometido es por medio de una contribucin constante a la parroquia. Comenzamos con el ao nmero ocho del programa de ofertorio y le pedimos a usted y a su familia considerar este mtodo de ofrenda usando los sobres o Parish Pay. El compromiso comienza en enero de 2013, pero le invito a que desde ahora considere esto y planee con anticipacin.
