Prepared By Md. Tarek Rahman Halima Jahan Sarker Students Department Of Management Studies 4th batch, Comilla University, Bangladesh

Abstract:
Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. In global and regional context, Bangladesh population has drawn considerable attention of the social scientists, policy planners and international organizations. In global context, Bangladesh is now worlds eighth populous country having 148.5 million people, but occupying only 3000th part of the worlds land space. Now Population problem is Number One problem of our country.

Key-Words:
Bangladesh, Population, Growth, Rate, Urbanization, Prosper.

CURRENT POPULATION SITUATION AND FUTURE GROWTH:

The Bangladesh population in mid-2007 was around 147 million. The precise figure depends on assumptions about rates of growth since the adjusted census figure of 129,247,233 for 22 January 2001. The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) indicates an average rate of natural increase of 1.5% annually since the census. However, these figures from the BBS are almost certainly under-estimates of crude birth rate (CBR) (20-21/1,000) and crude death rate (CDR) (5-6/1,000). The BBS rates would project a population of just over 141 million whereas the Population Reference Bureau (PRB) rate of natural growth of 1.9% per annum is more likelybased on assumed CBR of 27/1,000 and CDR of 8/1,000, resulting in a projected population of 147 million.

Population of India and Neighboring Countries

Population, Whether Problem or Beneficiary for Bangladesh:

If someone announces in the public place that population is beneficiary for our country all people will laugh with sorrow as they really know what benefit they are getting from over population. Without any delay they will understand that the person is bullheaded. All the people will say the same thing they are facing a lot of problems for over population. There can be no doubt that the continued growth of the large population of Bangladesh has major implications in the future development of the country. In every case the people are facing a lot of problems. They are facing problem with accommodation, problem with health, financial problem, food problem, problem with education. Huge environmental problem are causing every moment because of industrialization and urbanization. If we keep a look on Dhaka city we will find a lot of slum. And one

can not imagine with seeing with own eye how congested the house are and how much problem the people in the slums are facing. Population of our country is increasing day by day but roads and transportation system of the country is not developing.

Some Major Problems that we are facing:

1. People are facing food problem. 2. Amount of poor people is increasing. 3. People are facing problem with pior drinking water. 4. There are problem with electricity as the production has not increased as the population increased. 5. The New Gas connection has stopped as the amount of new houses increased highly. 6. We have accommodation problem and everyday a lot of people are sleeping on the foot path. 7. As a result of overpopulation anti social activities are increasing day by day. 8. Environmental pollution has also increased as there are a lot of industries in the country.

Decision Whether Problem or prospect:

With my little thinking power I am seeing that there are a lot of problem for over population and I cant find any benefit or prospects for this over population. And it is duty to both to the Government and the general people that they should be aware of the over population. And all of we should try to make the people conscious about population problem.

Some Suggestions:

1. We have to work for removing poverty. We have to work Reduce the maternal mortality ratio
We have to insure access to safe water and basic sanitation Government should take necessary steps for reduce under-five mortality rates 2. Primary education should be ensured for all child. We have to work for Improving the lives of slum-dwellers

3. Targeting family-planning programmes to high-parity families and those at high risk of unintended pregnancies. 4. Emphasizing longer-term methods for family planning. 5. Preparing for urbanizationimproving urban infrastructure and a skilled workforce. 6. Prevent and control diseases of urban slums: tuberculosis, enteric infections, pneumonia, and violence. 7. Prepare for and provide health services for urban areas.

Conclusion: Though Bangladesh is a overpopulated country it is not right that its population growth cannot be controlled. Of course it is possible to bring it under control. We have to utilize our population properly then we will able to make our country a prosperous country.
