DETAILS OF REQUIRED COURSES FOR THE M.B.A.

Preparatory course in mathematics The purpose of the preparatory course is to refresh the students knowledge of the basic mathematics needed to study business administration including differential calculus.

Fundamentals of accounting Acquiring familiarity with the accounting environment and accounting records including standard accounting and financial reports. Other subjects covered include loans, bonds and depreciation, etc.

Introduction to Microeconomics This course will teach basic concepts in economics including solving economic problems and the advantages of size, in addition to: the compensation curve, supply and demand, production costs, marketing apparatus, government intervention and the open market.

Introduction to macroeconomics This course will cover subjects related to national accounting, private consumption functions, investment functions, aggregate demand, fiscal policy, monetary policy, banks and the money market.

Financial accounting The purpose of this course is to provide knowledge in financial accounting and pricing, familiarity with pricing systems, recording and calculating production costs, while focusing on accounting principles, methods for constructing financial reports and connection between them.

Introduction to organizational behavior Subjects studied in this course include: the individual in an organization, approaches and methods for motivating employees, organizational and interpersonal communications, pressure and burnout at work, organizational culture, processes for decision-making, power centers and politics in organizations, conflicts and managerial problems, leadership and management, and managing processes of change.

Statistics for business administration The purpose of this course is for the students to acquire knowledge about the graphic representation of data, organization of data in tables and using indices to summarize data while incorporating probability theory. Deepening students knowledge of statistical methods for understanding and analyzing managerial problems by drawing conclusions based on population samples, checking assumptions and regression.

Fundamentals of marketing This course is the first in a series of introductions to basic subjects in the field of marketing. The purposes of the course are to teach how to analyze the substance and functioning of marketing and develop the ability to implement theoretical tools for solving practical marketing problems. Subjects to be covered: the marketing system and marketing environment, strategic planning for marketing, information systems for marketing, consumer behavior and organizational customers.

Fundamentals of finance This course is intended to help students acquire the basic tools needed to analyze the profitability of an investment and business company. Special emphasis will be placed on problems relating to uncertainty and inflation. Subjects taught include: the purpose of a business company and the role of financial manager; forms of business organization; time value of money (future value, current value, compound interest and amortization tables); interest, inflation and exchange rates; criteria for investment; constructing cash flow and dealing with risk.

Fundamentals of operating production This course presents classical techniques for researching performance and gives examples of implementation and decision-making. The main tools taught in the course are: linear planning and its uses (creating models, graphics solutions, analyzing sensitivity, solutions using linear planning software), planning in stages, problems in serial decision-making (decision tree), project planning, simulations and dynamic planning and graphic presentations of these techniques for business administration fields including production, inventory, marketing, finance and human resources management.

Financial management This course deals with measuring the cost of capital, financing decisions (composition of a companys capital) and dividend decisions (policy for sharing profits). The course will also discuss subjects related to financial difficulties, bankruptcy and leasing.

Strategy and marketing management This course surveys and covers in-depth a range of subjects that a manager must consider when making decisions regarding development, design and marketing of products and services. Emphasis will be placed on the marketing in the new economy.

Workshop in project management The purpose of this workshop is to present the subject of project management from a practical perspective and give participants entry-level tools in this important field.

Organizational behavior and managing human resources This course deals with issues related to managing people in an organization during periods when an organization is undergoing transition and organizational turmoil resulting from mergers, acquisitions, privatization, reduction or expansion of the staff, employment of temporary personnel, working from home and other subjects relevant to the 21st century.

Ethics in management and social responsibility This course will help students improve their skill in analyzing and solving ethical problems in management and deal with the responsibility of the business sector to society at large.

Government and business This course is intended to give students an opportunity to examine the influence of economic policy on business management in Israel. Among other topics, the course will discuss on monetary and fiscal policy, capital market policy, policy regarding the balance of payments, theory and practice of economic growth in Israel, the Israeli economy according to the 20-20 Master Plan and economic and social forecasts.

mergers and acquisitions The course introduces the student to understanding business and legal aspects of mergers and acquisitions and will focus on the reasons for mergers, the process and main business points to be considered in acquisitions and the different methods for carrying them out. Also, the legal aspects, including corporate stocks, anti-trust laws and corporate laws which apply will be studied.

Organizational planning and management for excellent service Subjects covered in the course: uniqueness of services, the client, organizational strategy, organizational culture, size and structure of the organization; technology and communications; selecting, training and compensating service employees; relationship between quality service and profitability.

Financial reports The purpose of the course is to acquire the knowledge necessary to analyze the value of companies and deepen the understanding a student gains of a companys financial situation by analyzing the economic environment in which it works, business risks it faces and its financial reports.

Entrepreneurship and business planning

This course deals with the process of business planning and methods including writing and presenting business plans. It will discuss the skills required by an entrepreneur and teach tools for in-depth analysis of data and information. It will also focus on the processes involved in business planning and examine them from the perspectives of the entrepreneur and the potential investor.

Business strategy In this course, students will learn the methods and techniques for successfully managing negotiations, creating an atmosphere of trust and a positive image.

BUSINESS NEGOTIATIONS Basic principles and techniques of business negotiations will be taught, as well as how to negotiate while maintaining a positive atmosphere and outlook.

Managing organizational crisis This course will focus on ways of using communications to reach business goals, handling and creating crises in order to attain overall goals.
