The following describes those impacted: Business and Professions Code (BPC) Section 4999.33 delineates major changes to LPCC education requirements and takes effect for students who begin graduate study before August 1, 2012 and do not complete study on or before December 31, 2018, begin graduate study before August 1, 2012 and who graduate from a degree program that meets the requirements of this section, or begin a degree program on or after August 1, 2012. The Counselor Education Program at California State University, Fresno adjusted our program to comply with these new educational requirements. Changes to the LPCC education requirements will only affect new students who began the MFT program after August 1, 2012. Students currently enrolled in the MFT program (who began the program before August 1, 2012 and will complete the program on or before December 31, 2018) meet the previous educational requirements for LPCC licensure and these changes will not affect you. Students beginning the MFT program after August 1, 2012 must complete the following courses in addition to those required for the MS Counseling option in MFT. Please note that these Department of courses will double count for both the MFT Counseling Counseling, Special Education and Rehabilitation Program and LPCC licensure. The following FOUR courses are new to the counseling program and are mandatory for LPCC 5005 N. Maple Ave. M/S ED3 licensure: Fresno, CA 93740-8025
