VINNIE THE CAT: INF/OF Vinnie Catricala has hit safely in his last 6 games with the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League, batting .417 (10x24) with 4 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 home run and 4 RBI. During this stretch he has raised his AFL average from .162 to .262. Overall he is batting .262 (16x61) with 5 runs scored, 3 doubles, 2 home runs and 12 RBI. KNOCKING IN RUNS: INF Nick Franklin, C Mike Zunino, INF/OF Vinnie Catricala and INF Stefen Romero have combined to knock in 54 of the Peoria Javelinas 167 RBI in the teams first 29 games. He has limited opponents to a .219 (7x32) average, while walking 3 and striking out 6. WRAPPING IT UP: LH James Paxton concluded his Fall League assignment with the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League after reaching his innings and starts. Paxton missed his last scheduled start due to flu related symptoms. He went 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA (8 ER, 12.2 IP) in 5 starts. Paxton limited opponents to a .275 average (14x51), while walking 6 and striking out 16. AFL CONCLUDING: The Peoria Javelinas conclude the AFL season on Thursday vs. the Scottsdale Scorpions. At 3 p.m. ET on Nov. 17, the network will broadcast the Championship Game, which pits the top two clubs from the six-team league at Scottsdale Stadium. The Javelinas currently hold a 0.5 game lead with 3 games left over Surprise in the West division. AFL RISING STARS GAME: The Arizona Fall League had its 7th annual Rising Stars Game on Saturday, November 3 at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick as the East Division defeated the West Division 9-4. Infielder Nick Franklin (1x3), catcher Mike Zunino (0x2) and left-handed pitcher James Paxton (1.0,2,0,0,1,2) represented the Mariners on the West Division Rising All-Star squad. WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC: The Mariners will have 3 players players representing their countries during Qualifier 3, Nov. 15-19, 2012 in Panama City, Panama. RH Erasmo Ramirez will represent Nicaragua, RHP Ivan Julio is currently on the Colombia roster and RHP Thyago Vieira is listed on the Brazil roster. Mariners Official Scorer Eric Radovich is currently representing MLB as the Official Scorer in during the World Baseball Classic Qualifier 4 from November 15-18, 2012 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE/CO-OP WRAP: The Mariners announced OF Jose Leal was named the Most Improved Player and RHP Scott DeCecco was named the Most Improved Pitcher during the Mariners Instructional League in Peoria, while OF James Jones (Most Improved Player) and RHP George Mieses (Most Improved Pitcher) were highlighted for their improvement during the Co-op League. OF NOTE: INF Stefen Romero is batting .341 (14x41) with 6 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 home run and 8 RBI in 10 games with the Peoria Javelinas. INF Nick Franklin set season-highs in both hits and RBI on Nov. 11 vs. Phoenix, going 4x5 with 1 run scored, 2 doubles and 6 RBI.
