Compass
Film
are
an
independent
organisation,
and
have
been
delivering
events
in
Bristol,
and
bespoke
stages
at
summer
festivals,
for
six
years.
Compass
Film
are
looking
for
passionate,
hard-working
individuals
to
form
a
small
Press
team
for
the
run-up
and
delivery
of
our
next
exciting
event.
The
Caligari
Experience
will
be
a
multi-media
extravaganza,
a
show
combining
elements
of
film,
movement,
circus,
VJ-art,
performance,
music
and
installation.
Held
at
the
Creative
Common,
a
new
and
dynamic
space
housed
at
Temple
Meads,
the
event
will
take
place
May
17th
19th
2013.
This
is
a
fantastic
opportunity
for
anyone
interested
in
gaining
experience
of
press
from
within
a
creative
organisation.
You
will
work
within
a
small
team
to
develop
the
event's
press
&
publicity
schedule,
and
manage
its
implementation
in
the
lead
up
to
and
over
the
festival
period.
Your
role
will
be
to
increase
the
profile
and
visibility
of
the
event
by
securing
coverage
in
local,
national
and
international
media.
We
require
a
minimum
of
2
hours
per
week,
plus
weekly/
fortnightly
meetings,
which
may
fall
on
an
evening
or
weekend.
Plus
occasional,
additional
evening/
weekend
work,
especially
in
the
run
up
to
the
event.
Minimum
commitment
of
6
months.
Key Tasks: Research print deadlines for local and national publications and write a timeline plan for these Collate a comprehensive list of local and national press contacts Write and issue one press release a month for print, digital publications, radio and television Represent Compass as the main Press contact for the Event and handle any connected enquiries Invite local and national press to review the event and manage their attendance on the day Communicate well between members of the Press team and with the event organisers
Skills and competencies: The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate a keen interest in press and the arts. They should show strong interpersonal skills, enabling them to positively represent Compass. They should posses excellent organisational and time management skills, be comfortable using Word and Excel and be able to work independently, as well as part of a team. What this role can offer: This is a unique opportunity to become an integral part of a small organisation with a key role to play in the delivery of a large-scale ambitious event. You will work alongside creatives and gain experience of working at a venue that has hosted a range of high-profile events. We will provide you with the expert advice of a few key professionals in the field, and a professional reference at the end of the process.
