Advancements in welding industry

Welding is the process of fabrication that fixes materials like metals and thermoplastics by causing coalescence. This process is carried out by melting the metals and adding a filler material between them to form a pool of molten material that cools down to produce a solid joint. The melting is done with pressure and heat. This is similar to soldering as in that a lower melting point material is placed between the metals and then exposed to heating thus creating a solid joint without affecting the metals.

Traditionally welding was carried out by the black smiths to join iron and steel by heating and hammering in the 19th century which was called as forge welding. Later Arc welding and oxy fuel welding came into account followed by electric resistance method. 20th century was the time when welding technology developed briskly effected by the huge demand of weld materials in the World War I and World War II. After his era more modern and advanced welding techniques were developed like shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding and more.

However, developments were carried out with the advancements in the technologies and the invention of laser beam welding has changed the complete concept of fabrication. It was the marking time in the mechanical engineering which was proving to be very useful in the engineering of heavy and large equipments in the production and construction industry. This was helping the following sectors to carry out their tasks more effectively with the help of machines that made their work much simplified. Obviously, this was not an end to the development of welding technologies. With science reaching greater heights today robot welding has became a most used technology in industrial settings and has gained greater understanding of weld quality and standards. Robot welding uses mechanized programmable tools or robots to carry out the welding procedure. By using these robots or machines the complete welding process will be automated and thus the entire part will be performed and handled by machines with accuracy and perfection. These machines will be set with the coding and they will carry out the complete fabrication without leaving flaws and faults.

Robot welding is a fresh application of robotics era. The robots were first introduced in U.S.A during 1960s and later in 1980s these were employed in welding processes to automate the work and to

deliver high quality and standards. Presently there is a wider usage of these automated tools and robots in many applications. However, the application cost of these is very high it is best to be deployed in very large scale industries.

But what so ever testing the quality of these welding is very important as huge costs are invested in the fabrication and production processes. A minute defect can cost huge losses along with many potential safety hazards to the workers working on the sites. Proper Welding Inspection carried out by professional Inspection Services will make sure to test and assure the quality of welds, and secondarily to confirm the presence, location and coverage of all the welds. This method of insuring the integrity of structural welds in metals will identify all the facts like cracking, porosity, incomplete penetration, inclusions, lack of sidewall fusion, and similar defects that can compromise weld strength and let you know about the possible areas to correct. Inspection Services will provide skilled and professional Welding Inspection officers to carry out the work effectively. In collaboration with skill and integration of technology wonders are been done in creating engineering miracles. Learn more at http://www.aqss-usa.com/inspection-services.asp
